I was inspired by miontre’s entry to enter the Complaint Challenge Contest run by thorns to write this article, campaigning for the DA meter to count the original comments only. This is the Comment Count: My complaint with the current comment counting system is that it counts ALL the comments made on the deviation - including a ton of replies exchanged by the author and commenter, usually consisting of, “Thank You” and “You’re Welcome.” Whilst these reply comments are good manners, I don’t think they should contribute to the Comment Count because: These remarks don’t truly reflect the popularity of the piece .
