Layer Paint Downy Woodpecker

More form the Layer Paint backyard bird series! This time with a cute little Downy Woodpecker. The Downy woodpecker is the smallest of all North American woodpeckers. The total length of the species ranges from 14 to 18 cm. They are really cute and despite being a small creature, their pecking noise makes up for their size! Several times I've seen them latch onto our rain cutters cleaning off wasp nests for us. Very helpful they are!

Loved adding the dark blues in the feathers, thought it added more to the image! Painted this over the past few nights watching my newborn sleep... so if brush strokes seem a little more lazy.. its because I was doing several things at once.
