Easy-to-start abstract method that gives you cool results in short time. You'll be spending more times on positioning shapes and on materials than making the actual shapes composing the abstract.

I ran out of space. I'm wary to go over 6000 pixels vertically, but didn't feel that this tutorial warranted two parts.

I am learning Blender, and figure I'd chronicle what I learn in a way that hopefully helps out people who are wishing to learn Blender as well. Your mileage may vary.

Any feedback is appreciated.

I like this tutorial. I am getting some interesting results. Please do more blender tutorials as they are needed.

I'm glad you find it useful :)

The problem is that I'd have no idea where to even start.  I still do 3D stuff off and on, but I don't feel like I'm really getting much better at it when I do try.  It'd be hard to continue doing things, especially as many newer blender versions have been released (and I've not upgraded to the newest stuff yet), and I don't know what I'd even do if I started up trying to make these again.

My problem is finishing things. I start something and find it is hard to finish. I get discouraged when I see all of the awesome blender artwork that's out there, knowing I have quite a ways to go before I reach that level.

I have a similar problem as well.  Typically I work both on the render and materials for parts I'm working on during the phase of designing something,  When I do a render preview, if the materials are reasonable, at least I'll see progress on that!  But not comparing yourself to cool things you see is definitely a challenge I have yet to figure out myself...

I'm just now starting to learn about materials and textures. And lighting, of course. I am always on the lookout for good tutorials.
