I'm officially done with uploading on Deviant Art (see details & where to find me below).

This has been a long time coming, and I suppose what they did with the AI stuff and making us all freak out for me was the final straw. I dunno about you, but I was pissed and stressed out by the whole 'You have to change EACH deviant one at a time' BS. Yes, I know it's sorted now, but that's not the point. The point is clearly the staff behind this decision (because I have heard there were ones who raised their concerns and were ignored) don't care about the users here. If they did, they would have thought twice about their wording on that posts and the logistics of what they were asking for people who've got their whole life portfolio on here. People who've got hundreds and even thousands of artworks uploaded and the emence stress they just put them all through.

If the staff who make these decisions cared, they would have stopped for a second a thought, "Huh, would this upset the users?"

And don't even get me started on their stance with AI.

I've been getting more distant from this site for a long time. I've been very much against the changes with Eclipse since the start and over the last 6 months features which used to be F R E E have been, and continue to get locked behind a paywall for a now shitty and shady company which I refuse to support with any kind of monetary funds.

I'll list it. I'll list what pisses me:

*Commissions. Have to pay for core, or you'll lose 20% of your commission fee.

*Custom wedges. We used to have one for free. Now we get ZERO, and you advertise it like it's a BRAND-NEW feature. It ain't. The only people you're fooling are the new users who don't know better.

*Stats. Pointless. Without Core, they are useless and do NOTHING now. You get so little information now it's useless.

*My fellow veterans. Remember in September (I think), how DA was like, "HERE, have one free core for a month on us!" If you didn't see, you couldn't accept the offer without being put in for AUTOMATIC RENEWAL (which, of course, comes from your pocket).

It just... It makes me mad.

They took something good, and they're just milking it for every penny they can get, while putting as little as possible back.

It's been two years and this place is still a buggy as when it lunched.

They wreaked the notification centre.

Finding anything is impossible.

They made a complete mess of the mature rating system.

And I HATE tags with a burning passion. The old system with the branching categories worked soooo much better.

I'm just done with this site.

I think, a lot of it is for me sentimentality. This site was my first proper experience with social media, it’s what grew my passion for art, made me change my mind from studying science to pursue art (yes, make your poor artist jokes in the comments. Knock yourself, it’s my debatable life decision,lol). It just feels like taking 6 years of my life and setting it all on fire, leaving nothing behind, and I'm just not mentally ready to fully let go yet.

So for the foreseeable future, this is my archive page now. I might pop in and drop the occasional update or let you know when I open my rebooted commissions, but that's about it.

I know what you're thinking, and I'm going to address it now.

Buzzly had a big controversy when it launched. There was an issue with one of the co-founders pasts, and then that NSFW questions poll (if you were there, you know what was on it). Following that poll, I'm pretty sure the site's stance on what was allowed in NSFW with incest, minors and all that fun touch stuff pretty much killed off Buzzly as an alternative site for 90% of people who ran there from the Eclipse dumpster fire at the time.

It's been 8 months now, and I can assure you it's a fantastic site. I don't know what happened to that co-founder, if they are still here, they're quiet and staying out of public attention now. The team working on Buzzly are doing a really incredible job on bringing it back after what happened in March. The NSFW rules have been changed and most of the stuff which drove people away is now prohibited (and so is AI art, *wink, wink* DA). It really is become like what DA use to have here before Eclipse with notes, page customisation, the HTLM stuff (you know what that is if you did that), stamps, and they're working on implementing groups!

The mature rating system they've implemented has got to be one of THE BEST I've had the pleasure of using so far. It's competent and catches just about everything. Unlike DA which nukes anything and everything mature, there's an exceptions tag box, so for things like swearing which can get a work tagged as mature with violence, blood, gore ect. You can put that in the exceptions box and still see those works. Some more taboo things are still allowed, but those blocking tags really do work.

I HIGHLY would recommend you give Buzzly another chance, or try it out if you haven't already.

You need an invite code & Buzzly is 18+ only now (I think it's just to avoid legal troubles since they allow NSFW with the correct tagging/rating). So while I can't help you with the latter, send me a note & I can give you one of my invite code :)

I haven't uploaded much yet. I've found Instagram helpful to follow DA artists elsewhere, and I figured some else might find the same for my content. So give me a little time, I'll get up my best works and keep adding to it.

It's been a while hasn't it?

That hiatus of mine may have gotten out of control ^^;

So, being frank, I'm not pleased to be back. I still highly dislike Eclipse. I still hate the user interface (, notifications make me want to pull my hair out) and everything is STILL so buggy. It's been 2 years DA staff. 2 YEARS.

*Sigh* I'm not here to rant.

I'm here to make some good out of a bad situation.

There just, there isn't an alternative to this site (and Buzzly is a blazing dumpster fire >>) so for now, uploads will resume. I will be making an effort to get back into uploading here, on a week or biweekly schedule.

Project update

Currently, I have 3 main projects in the work, and I'll give a quick update on them:

An Imposter's Fate

Has been on hiatus for a while now. I've started writing for this story again. I'm working on a light re-work to brush up chapters, consistency, plot & characters. At the current rate, I may have this story back in action by September, if not sooner.

Lost Children of the CCC

A Henry Stickmin fic I've been working on during my absence from DA.

9 chapters are up on A03, and the 10th will be going up this/next week. All stuff for this story is up on Tumblr, I will work on transferring some of the main art & chapter covers over.

Tales Of Stardust

I love this story.

It's a story that means a lot to me. It's a story that's been with me for 4 years, through the good, the bad and brought me joy during what was a really tough period for me. I started writing TOSD when I was 16, and the story grew and changed alongside me. The characters changed with me, looking through my old work, it's something you can see through interactions and maturity.

I think, the story growing with me is why I've had so many problems. Because in the last 5 years I've changed quicker than I've written the story. I've spent the last 2 years trying to fix a plot which is outdated. Characters which, in their current state, some have outgrown the old plot. I'm trying to use 4 different puzzle pieces to make one;

I can't fix Tales Of Stardust.

That's why Last October I started from scratch.

Since then, I've been quietly working on re-building the story from the ground up. Screw deadlines and wanting to get something out, because under the mess, there are 4 years of love, joy, sadness and a story.

Tales of Stardust will return.

I've got 4 years of writing experience under my belt now (I see that when I work on Lost Children, I see the improvements, I feel the smoother writing experience).

The new plan is done, I've got a working A-Z plot. I'm starting the new script in the coming weeks, so I'll keep you guys in the loop with my progress.

I'll be seeing you guys around :)

*It's a Beta launch (on 31st October, it's been out 2 days, so bugs still hover about). So things can be a bit quirky to figure out, eg. Profile header. Took me a while to realise it was file size sensitive and not a bug.

*The NSFW tag is really strict.

Actually got flagged to my surprise. Turns out, after getting a warning, the NSWF is very strict about blood/violence/gore, as in NONE. Cartoony or realistic. So that's something to beware of, but the NSFW and SFW system is very competent and easy to disable to view works. It also tells you why it's blocked (I don't think DA does that, but in all honestly, I couldn't find any NSFW not blocked to check >> ).

Otherwise, it's looking very promising, so I recommend checking it out. I'm almost certain, I'll defiantly be contiuing to upload on this site.

Oooooh boy. Can't say I'm thrilled to be using this again, and I haven't even gotten to posting anything yet. Hopefully it's gotten a bit better since I was last here-

Life, the last 4 months

April, huh? That was a long hiatus, but I feel good. I need that.

A nice long break and I've just been figuring my life out really, I'm in a bit of a funny situation right now so yeah. I've just been trying to figure out life and what to do with it for the unknown future.

I'm referring to NZ residency.

My older watchers have probably heard me talk about this, but for the last 5 years my family have been trying to obtain NZ residency. ( Please, please, do your self a favour and DON'T try to move here, )And if you couldn't guess... we're getting nowhere.

Still.

At this point, I've now been out of school 10 months and helping my parents on our family business growing house plants. Technically, I'm not allowed to work or study because I'm on a visitor visa. Also as condition of the family residency visa I have to be fully dependent on my parents, so for many reasons I can't do anything with my life right now.

Uni's out mostly due to fees (an extra $27,000 on domestic fees per year) and as much as I'd love to, I can't do commission (unless it's with DA points) because I don't have a bank account, because I don't have an IRD #, which I can't get without a job, which I can't get without NZ Residency and I didn't get an IRD # when I was in the UK because we left before I turned 16.

Ironically, COVIDs to blame.

It cost people their jobs, family and for me, residency.

~Lockdown cost us our appeal because they refused to believe sales figures, because people here have gone mental on buying houseplants (and thank god for them, or this would be twice as bad).

~The Minister then mucked about for 8 months to tell us to put in a new application two weeks before I had to accept my offer of place for uni.

~Processing times once we got a new application in were 32 months (2.5 years) because of the astronomical residency backlog these clowns have put together.

~The MPs and our immigration advisor have been playing a game of hot potato with whose supposed to help us get our application expedited for the last 2 months.

It's been a stressful few months.

Life Currently

But, I'm back!

In a bit of good news, our wait time for our category dropped to 8 months, and then 6 months about 2 weeks ago. So, fingers crossed they start looking at our application before Christmas and maybe with a miracle I'll make it to uni for the 2022 start.

I've also been pushing through and doing A LOT of self study and my art's really been improving the last few months. I'm actually quite excited to show you guys my improvement ^^

Fortunately, art (I want to be a concept artist) is one of those things you can study out of uni and there's plenty of online courses which you can keep and are cheaper than $33,000 per year. I keep joking with my parents about this. By the time we get residency, I might be fully qualified through self-teaching and can study plant science instead. ^^;

Big guy's now 9 months old, got him for my birthday. He's been my moral support throughout this whole nightmear. Dunno if I introduced him here or not, but oh well.

OH! Wrist update!

My wrist has improved very well, and I think I'm at a point where it's just management, (asides from a lump and some swelling I'm going to get check out again. I know the physio keeps saying it's fine, but you know... it's my wrist. My dominate wrist and If he's missing a problem, well... it's not going to affect him asides from the ear ache I'll personally give him for making me feel paranoid (Which I probably am ) ).

Anyway, I actually found what's been making my wrist worse and absolutely horrified my physo when I told him. I draw with 3 fingers.

I KNOW! THE HORROR!

It was an off comment one of our staff made about me holding my pencil wrong. So, I actually read that section they include in art books on how to hold your pencils and would ya know, it said the following:

Yup. 15 years of holding my pencils & pens like that.

2 years (?) on a wrist injury.

My physio was horrified. Mostly, that he hadn't notices when he'd gotten me to show him how I draw.

Turns out, holding your pencil like this uses 18/20 tendrons in your wrist.

If you hold it like a normal person, it uses about 3.

So if you're doing what I use to: STOP. *Picture sans holding blue stop sign*

Deviant ART Vs. Tumblr

Ok, you might have guess already, but I'm not impressed with Eclipse (I'm actually quite annoyed emojicons aren't working. I use love using them, (¬_¬) (HAHA! Another site to the save!).

I put a poll out this morning (SCREAM INTO VOID ABOUT STUPID GLITCH) and you guys want me to keep posting here, so I will. (ok, fixed)

Among Us - An Imposter's Fate

I actually found the Henry Stickmin fandom through Among Us because I wanted to research into the Airship for when that map came out, and as you can guess, Henry and co stole my heart.

I did drift out of this fandom for a bit, I sort of back into it a little now (I'm really loving the Town of Us mod), but I keep looking at Imposter's fate because it still has potentual as a story. So I'm hoping to do a re-write of that in the future.

What happened with that story was I was writting it on the fly for fun and then I crashed when it came to acutally getting a coherent plot together. So I'm looking at redoing that properly in the near future.

(like a 20 second lag on typing ><, not to mention crashing my spell check extension.)

Henry Stickmin

This isn't going anywhere. I'm having too much fun with the stories

Unlike Among Us, it's got so many possibilities for spin-offs, side stories, alternative timeslines... I have entertainment here for a while, and learning from An Imposter's fate, I'm writing my stories properly they don't get burned out.

*Lost Children of the CCC- Escape the Wall, looks like about 35 chapters.

5 are up on A03, 15 are finished (out of order) and 14 are somewhere between started and proofreading.

*Triple Warfare, I'm sitting on because I don't want to be doing too many projects at once. I want to get TOSD up and going again full time, so I'm saving a slot for that in my work schedule. Triple Warfare I might start once I'm doie with the first part of the LCoCCC.

Tales Of Stardust

This story is special to me.

It's made no progress online or paper, but over time it has.

TOSD is nearly 4 years old. I started writing it on my second year in NZ. It was rough, moving here, and I found comfort in this story. A lot of the pain I went thought was shared with Star and Chantal (who was written as versions of myself). Loss, loneliness, being an outcast, no friends, a bazaar culture (And have your class leader force you into doing that on your first week when the most culture you have is this (Spoiler; It didn't end well...) ) not knowing your place and a lack of belonging. This story helped me survive that and weirdly enough, I feel like it grew with me. Like the story has grown and changed as much as me, if that makes sense in a weird way

So, I've decided that the comic will be a reboot of the story separate from the original version.

Star has matured into his own characters and I feel like Chantal living in the shadow of being an embodiment of my 15 year old self is holding her back as a 2D character, and she can't grow because she's in the mental confiments of how I see my old self. A person I feel I've left behind and can't write anymore because I've grown past that person. (This might make non sense what so ever).

I'm rebooting it to cut ties with the old version , so I'm not fighting to make the new story work with old pieces. Not everything will be scrapped, and the script is finished for the first half, I'm working on a modified version of 2019's script (what I've been trying to draw the first chapter of for like... a year now). I am/was comicing, but I stopped this week to do some research and have a good think of what's the most effective way for me to produce the comic. I'm looking to find a quick light way to do it with minimum strain on my wrist (I'm thinking digital, so I might do a couple of tester pages before continuing.)

The only major change the re-boot will see asides from Stars origin story (which was never published anyway) is Chantal will be 'replaced' with Annabella. A new modified version of chantal with her own story and a slightly different personality. You'll see.

It's late now, and I've been fighting with this stupid journal for 3 hours (wish I was joking), so I'll try my luck with posting tomorrow. If you want to see the new character designs, go check out Tumblr. Links above.
