Alone on the boat, when Shellyfish is dreaming and hiding. The egg she found started to hatch. It cracks, claws and paws pushing out of the eggshell. The stump's golden eyes stared out at the wall. She stretches her large wings and wing-shaped ears out. Vagabond notices the egg hatching. The tavian immediately feels uncomfortable around her. But Vagabond nevertheless keeps watch.
The child stares out. A flood of knowledge in her little head. She wants to know why this is. Why she's hidden. Why she's here. Why anything is here, really. She waits. She swears someone should be here. She hears the tavian scurrying around, but there should be someone else.
Shellyfish returns. She's quite surprised to see that the egg she saved was a clump, but a life saved is better than a life wasted. Shellyfish knows there's something more to this stump. She doesn't know what, but Coral will be under her care from now on.
