Staves Rest - Rockstar Babies

If you’d asked if Lava would have children, he probably would’ve said “Why?”

Yet here he was, with two eggs in tow and a tall, handsome staxie on his mind. Recently, he had learned two things about Oblivion. One, Oblivion already had a boyfriend. Two, Oblivion already had experience with children. Lava couldn’t help but feel a tinge of jealousy. Oblivion already seemed to have everything, didn’t he? Lava focused his attention on the eggs, waiting for them to hatch. One of them was much smaller than the other one, and it was capable of floating. He had learned this was supposed to be a ‘squall egg’. He wondered if all of the experimentation done on him had caused this to happen. One of the eggs starts to crack open, and Lava fixates his lavender eyes on it. He sees a child that looks a lot like him. 

The hatchling, a boy, was black and pink in coloration. He had brilliant fuchsia eyes, a pair of long whiskers growing out of his face, a pair of wings on his arms and another pair on his rump, and a ridged tail. His son also had Oblivion’s scaly limbs. The second child, the squall, was quick to hatch afterward. She was a little girl, and despite the species difference, it was clear she was his. She had a brilliant pink beak, scaled legs, and a pair of wings on the rump. She was also quite feathery, and like Lava, she had long whiskers. Lava observed that there was something different about the squall. Her eyes seemed to be glazed over. Lava smiled. They looked like rockstars! 

They’re soon named Clancy and Marimba, and while Lava isn’t sure how the whole arrangement with him and Oblivion will work out, he knows one thing for sure. These children will have a better life than he has, and they’ll know that they’re rockstars.
