Greetings from the Founder!

Hi everyone,

Welcome to the group! As you can see from the name, as well as from the avatar, the main focus is on cetaceans – whales, dolphins, and porpoises – that live in their natural habitats. Those of you that truly care about cetaceans are most welcome to share your interest by submitting photographs and/or news accounts of what you’ve seen and heard about wild cetaceans. Since there are so many species that live in the oceans, rivers, lakes, waterways, estuaries, and other large bodies of water, our knowledge and understanding of whales, dolphins, and porpoises will definitely be enhanced through this group.

You are strongly encouraged to pass on visual/written information not only about cetaceans in their respective home environments, but regarding cetaceans that strand on beaches, shallow waters, or other areas where they cannot truly free themselves back into their habitats. Sharing photographs and/or progress reports on small cetaceans that are in rehabilitation and/or ready to be released back into the open waters is also encouraged. Since there may be some cetaceans that are in such bad shape to be rescued, the dissemination of information on these precious cetaceans will be greatly appreciated.

Most of all, this group is open to those of you that truly treasure cetaceans that live in the wild and are interested in their welfare!

You are most welcome to join as members and/or watchers. I will definitely look forward to hearing from many of you as I continue to make progress here as a Founder!

Hi everyone,

Hard to believe it is already 2011!  It only seems like yesterday I posted my last blog.  I know it's time for a new one!

I would really like to apologize to all of you for not keeping up with this group regularly.  I must admit that I have not been on dA that much since I have been spending a lot of time doing ground work for the oceans, wild cetaceans, and other sea life.  As many of you are aware, there are so many human threats that pose a great deal of danger to the lives of wild cetaceans and other sea life and their open-water habitats.  I have covered a lot of different issues on Facebook and have been in contact with a number of people that truly care about the welfare of wild cetaceans and other sea life and the health of our oceans.  We have also shared our deep concerns about various wildlife species (land and water) that are not only endangered, but are in deep trouble.  We are working on a number of ways to help those in need and to make a positive difference to our Earth's non-human inhabitants and their natural surroundings.

If you have an account with Facebook, please do type out Laurice Dee in the search box and place a friend request.  Please do leave a message to let me know that you are from this group.  I will be most happy to place you on my friend list.  On my wall, you will find all kinds of info about the various issues that I've covered.  I will definitely look forward to hearing from many of you via Facebook.  In the meantime, I will make great effort to be on dA on a regular basis since I am already committed to this group, as well as the other group that I also founded last year.  That group is called SaveWildCetaceans and is dedicated to wild cetaceans and other marine wildlife that never cease to be bombarded by various human threats that pose a great deal of danger to their lives and habitats.  My hope is that many of you will join as members (if you have not had the chance to do so) and accompany us in the on-going fight on behalf of the precious creatures!

As one of the news contributors of tursiops.org, a comprehensive news site, I have been submitting numerous cetacean- and ocean-related news to the site.  If you have the chance, please do check it out via tursiops.org

I hope this finds many of you doing well and keeping busy.  May 2011 be a great year for all of you!

Hi everyone,

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Laurice, and I founded this group. Let me share a little bit about my background.

I must admit that my interests are so varied that I enjoy them all so very much!

One of the things that I truly love to do is photograph landscapes and seascapes. There are plenty of photos in my main dA gallery for you guys to look through. You will be able to get a good feel for all the photos that I've taken, as well as all the favorites that I've collected!

I have such great compassion for the welfare of marine wildlife, particularly cetaceans, sea turtles, sea birds, and penguins. I have been advocating on their behalf since they've faced all kinds of human threats that are quite harmful to their health and habitats. The on-going fight for their lives and their beautiful home environments will never end, and I am doing the very best I can as an ardent advocate. Cetaceans and other marine wildlife truly deserve to live their lives to the fullest and with a great deal of meaning.

I am dedicating this very special group, CetaceansFromTheSea, to all wild cetaceans that go about their lives in the open seas. My hope is that you will enjoy the photos and illustrations of the most precious creatures!

LAURICE

P.S. I also founded another group, SaveWildCetaceans, that is dedicated to all wild cetaceans and other sea life that never cease to be bombarded by all kinds of human threats that are quite disastrous to their lives and habitats. Members that are a part of this group lend their 'voices' through their photos, illustrations, and/or writings and participate in the fight against such human threats.

Please do check it out! I will be very happy to have you join my other group if you are interested.

I'm unable to submit to the Cetacean Illustrations gallery. Is this group still active?
