Description
In the year 1849, construction began on one of Vermont's first railroads. The development of the new railroad ran quickly ran through the town of Charlotte. At the time, workers in Charlotte had stumbled upon what seemed to be the remaining part of some type of horse. As they started digging further into the clay deposit where they had found the bones, the workers had exposed more of the bizarre animal. Eventually, they had pieced together the nearly complete skeleton of - not a horse - but a whale. Local scientific officials were quick to recognize it as fossilized remains of a Delphinapterus leucas, also known as the Beluga Whale.
This discovery, along with other important finds had helped piece together Vermont's geologic past.

For some reason, I can imagine Ethan Cowgill narrating that first part.
Some time soon I would get to uploading photos of my trip to Gettysburg, PA, as well as my lovely visit to the Perkins Museum of Geology, VT.
Although, personally, I thought that uploading all of these photos would be a bit boring, so, why not edit them?

I had uploaded one of the photos I took during the museum visit and added a preset called "stencil." And, I come up with nothing short of a masterpiece (a digital masterpiece, for that matter).
I adore this image because it is very reminiscent of vintage, pointillistic illustrations.
Somewhat like Robert Bakker's use of pointillism in The Dinosaur Heresies (I have a copy of the original book).

Thank you for this article. It's pretty awesome to think that fossils are not only animals, plants and other good things from the past but from more of a recent past. Makes you think how long Beluga whales have been around. Thanks for the fav!
