I am fundraising for a friend of mine from the gym. He and his wife have two children: a son in college and a special needs daughter who just turned 13. For years they have wanted to build a safe, education room for their daughter. Because of her disabilities, she is unable to go up and down the stairs in their home. She requires a special, safe environment to learn. The family themselves are in a tight financial situation and cannot make more through taxable sources as this would disqualify them from their needed special needs aid (such as being able to afford medication -- which is currently subsidized). Since their daughter is 13, she is beginning to want to be more independent (learning how to cook and clean on top of standard educational needs); however, the design of their house is not conducive to such learning at
