Coral McBride --- Do not alter or use without my permission.

Hecate was the only child of the Titanes Perses and Anstaria and is a very complex goddess. My interpretation depicts her standing at the crossroads protecting travellers from evil spirits. She holds a lantern to light the way for the lost, and a spiritual compass to help them find their way. There are no destinations on the signpost because everybody arrives for different reasons and their choice if they are alive is an individual one but if dead, their destination is predetermined and in either case Hecate makes the journey easier.

Hecate or Hekate is a chthonic Greco-Roman goddess, asociated with magic, witches, ghosts, and crossroads. Hecate also came to be associated with ghosts, infernal spirits, the dead and sorcery. Over time, the association with keeping out evil spirits could have led to the belief that if offended, Hecate could also allow the evil spirits in. According to one view, this accounts for invocations to Hecate as the supreme governess of the borders between the normal world and the spirit world, and hence as one with mastery over spirits of the dead. Whatever the reasons, Hecate's power certainly came to be closely associated with sorcery.

Beautiful and magical!

Do you sell the copyright use of them? For example, can i make journals with this image on the cover. I am a follower of Hekate. And, I this picture is lovely.

Because this is an over painted photo manipulation, contacting all the stock artists and waiting for replies is so much hassle that I find it easier not to sell. Sorry, and thank you for the appreciation.

It sounds like we would want Hecate as our friend to protect us in our cross over. So beautifully captured.

Goddess of crossroads.

do you have one of Artemis?
cemac's avatar
I have begun work on two more Greek goddesses, Achlys and Artemis but I am not completely happy with either of them and my usual process is to leave them and com back to them later on. Quite often it is the model I have chosen and I usually find that another one that is more suitable to what I picture is uploaded and then I am able to finish them.

I'm obsessed with this picture, the girl reminds me so much of myself, she looks like me from a past life! Did you use a model for this one? If so, she's my evil twin :). Love your other pieces too, are they for sale or no?

Thank you for the lovely compliment. The model is Ida Mary Larsen… and I over painted her so if there is any connection, it must have been in my subconscious  :)  I haven't offered my art as prints although I do print them for myself and so far the majority look much better printed than viewed on screen.
