Octopus Man

Octopus Man is another member of the "Secret Society" team of superheroes who came about in the early days of my childhood. As I recall, he had no special powers other than the multiple arms. Nope, not even ink-squirting powers. Just six arms (originally eight, until I decided he should have eight appendages) at his disposal.

Octopus Man's original suit was blue, but it was more of a rectangle - presumably to accomodate all of the arms. Later, he sported an all-black jumpsuit, but I found that to be less interesting than the blue. I just needed to find a way to make it look like he wasn't wearing a box. I decided to give him a form-fitting jumpsuit that would probably be a HUGE pain to put on in the morning. Then, in a fit of whimsy, I gave him sneakers.

Between the pose and the outfit I gave him, I ended up making Octopus Man look like a basketball player.

Oh, and as for why Octopus Man is purple - I think that might have to do with the octopus from the "Sweet Pickles" books. [link] Just an educated guess, mind you.
