24Hr-2018-Page 24 by CDRudd 24Hr-2018-Page 24 by CDRudd
Yesterday I participated in the 24 Hour comic Day.

It's a challenge Day where comic artists try to produce a 24 page comic within 24 hours.

I started at 7 am on the 6th of Oct, and finished 6:30 am on the 7th.

There will be the occasional spelling and image mistake, but as this was completed during the 24 hours, I am posting the completed original version.

A moment of silence for the soon to be expired Robert.

Although something in my mind just screams for a chance to see shiping pics between Robert and Katty. And no I don’t mean anything raunchy nor anything having to do with the postal service. I say this because I can see a scenario where this Thiebert hybrid somehow wood Katty.

Lol that's a very amusing typo of "woos".

So if you're able to stream and make comics from your current location, are you just taking a break from your other comics in general, then? Because if you've got Internet and computer access, I think there's more than just one fan out there that would rather see Jeanie Bottle continue forward.

The reason for the hiatus is due to limited resources
In order to make Jeannie Bottle comics, I need time, my equipment and a decent internet connection.

1. Time - I am away from home and on call. I also am working almost everyday. The ONLY reason I was able to sit down and work on the comic for the past 24 hours was because it's a holiday (Canadian Thanksgiving) so we where given what time we could have off for the holiday(During the 24 hours I had to go take care of two work issues.). ON top of that, I had to request the time to participate in the 24 Hour Comic Day 3 weeks ago to make sure my boss and everyone else signed off on the time.

2. Equipment - I usually make my comics with a 24 HD Cintiq. While away, I'm limited to my smaller Wacom Companion. Which is still usable, but it more difficult to make decent comics quickly. Plus I don't have most of my reference files, and am unable to just look things up on a whim.

3. Decent Internet - Where I am, I have basically a step above dial-up speed. And it's shared among a bunch of people. On top of that I have to use the work provided machines to access the internet. So for me to upload files, I have to go across the complex I'm working in (It's somewhat large), scan the USB stick, get it verified by the IT pers and then use the slow internet to upload it. Since I normally upload large files to Robert to proof. It would basically take a while to send, bog down the network for anyone else (who might want to communicate with there family) and will take maybe 3 or four hours to send one comic file.

If I reduce them and post them myself, then I'll have the grammar Nazi's constantly taking apart my comics, which would cause more stress and headache trying to fix them, or retroactively fixing them upon return.

I don't take going on hiatus lightly, but at the moment, it's a better option then trying to get a poor quality product out there.
I'm not allowed to say where I am, but basically, it's similar to being deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan. Resources are limited, and work is 24/7; comic's are a hobby.

No problem. I hope I'm not coming off as jerky... I was running on a lack of sleep.

I just want clarification, because there was a lot of usual quality art, fully colored, going up a few days ago, now this, it really makes me wonder if he's actually someone inaccessible or if he just wanted a break after finishing one comic. Forgive me for being suspicious, but after Dragon Doctors and Speedball's /constant/ excuses and clamor for pity attention and Zebra Girl clearly getting rushed to completion because Joe was tired of working on it, well...

And honestly, I'd rather see 'inferior' quality comics than infrequent guest art, or nothing at all. Comics can be re-made to a higher quality when he returns to his original setup. I'm trying not to come off as a 'entitled fan', but I would just like a straight answer. If he has the ability to work on comics and upload, then, if it was me, I'd be uploading. If he wants to take a break, then he should just say it.

The art being posted a couple weeks ago was being made from my home. I briefly was home. While there, I worked on some JB comics for a special occasion. (You'll know when it happens)

CD only has access to his greatly inferior comic drawing tablet where he's currently at. That's why these comics are, well, inferior to his usual quality. He literally can't draw Jeanie Bottle to the same standard that the fans have come to expect.

Plus, you probably weren't around while these quickie comics were being uploaded. His internet is functional, but it's very, very slow. It took him over 45 minutes to upload 24 jpegs. Uploading 50meg+ PSD files for me to edit is also just not possible.

As funy and welcome as this side story may be, I think the difference on visual quality with your standard CD cómic page in pretty clear, If CD can and is willing to share this small cómics while on his break, that's awesome, but I think is a little to much to ask for a propper, clean, full color and edited page of JB for now.
