RR: 'Grab and Heist' Sequence by CCB-18 RR: 'Grab and Heist' Sequence by CCB-18
Another edition of my Road Rovers/Thunderbirds-style title sequence, with quite an interesting tale to tell. This was inspired by bluehairedgirlstudio fan episode "Heist"; www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5B54J…

PLOT
Colonel Chaos is at it again. This time he's established martial law in the European country of Halgarnia (a country the size of the state of Rhode Island that shares boarders with Albania, Hungary and Bulgaria - in other words, a fictitious country, so just roll with it) after being granted permission to help aid the military base by the country's bombastic (and somewhat pompous) dictator, Baron Dampnoodle.
Because of this, they can't join the U.N or the E.U. as Chaos's forces lead him to taking power and the Baron's government threw out all World Army personnel, since Chaos bought his own war stocks (mostly surplus) with him.
Because of this new military ruling, Halgarnia is increasing finding itself isolated from the U.N. and E.U., with outside help increasingly dwindling and internal rumblings are brewing.

In order to suppress its lower-class people further, over $100 million aid money (in the shape of gold bullion) destined for the suffering Halgarnian people, has been stolen by Chaos, on the Baron's orders, for the purchasing of more military equipment (so he claimed), outraging the rest of the world further, since they have no jurisdiction there, they can't do a thing about it. Great Britain decide that the best course of action is to quite simply steal the money back, but with Halgarnia under martial lock-down this proves to be near impossible. Not even the Road Rovers can help, since Chaos is ready for them this time. He's stored the money and his surplus ammunition stocks in a nearby castle that was once the political prison back in the 17-19th centuries.

Then the final straw comes from a very horrific incident. A railway enthusiast and ex-British Parliamentarian now turned TV present, Mr. Mathew Portfolio, was arrested for trespassing on military grounds - the political prison itself! He claimed it was all a harmless mistake. He'd been following the railway lines from a guidebook written in the last Victorian/early Edwardian era by Ronald Utherwaite Shaw, otherwise known to the world as the 'R.U.Shaw Railway Guide' <pun>, and was one of his most prized positions. His questions about old railway lines and the local attractions described in the book had aroused suspicion with Chaos's undercover police force, and when he was found within Chaos's castle grounds, Chaos had the nerve to call him a spy, sent to steal the money back and that his "precious railway guide" was just a code-book. Sadly, the Baron (who's so pompous he'd almost childish) believes it all and sentences Mr Portfolio to be executed in four days time (a Sunday, no less)...by the guillotine. His camera man is allowed to live, so long as he films the execution for the world to see. All the world can do now is watch in hopeless horror. What's worse is no one can to anything to help Portfolio - if the World Army even tried, then Chaos and the Baron would have him beheaded ahead of schedule...

In the end, the U.N. make contact with the Rovers, who after their last dealings with Chaos and now this outrage of inhuman trial and punishment are keen to help, since the U.N. has no authority to enter in Halgarnia, but the Rovers can.
But how to get about it, they don't know - for not only do they have to save an innocent man's life, but retrieve the stolen money as well. Not even Colleen would be able to take the money without getting caught. It would take a cat burglar of great skills and agility to sneak in and take it, and the Rovers don't know of any (and if they did, then he would probably be in jail)...

Luckily, Hunter thinks of someone who might know: their friend, the Guardian of the Gateway (see here; fav.me/damigw0). Thankfully, her observations of the many dimensions the Gateway shows them the very person they seek: the infamous gentleman thief, Sly Cooper.
So summoning him towards the Gateway (Road Rovers style) and a quick explanation (including a demonstration of Sly's skills as he pickpockets the Rovers themselves), Sly agrees to help - though he's told he cannot keep any of the money for himself.
So with Sly (handcuffed) on their team, the Rovers make for Halgarnia and make a pincer movement from the outskirts of the kingdom. Thankfully, Chaos is dining with the Baron, and making preparations for the televisation of Portfolio's execution in the morning.
Hunter, Muzzle & Sly enter Chaos's castle by using the Baron's own zeppelin (airships are one of his interests) - purloined from the Baron's own castle, and right under the noses of Chaos and the Baron - to gain entry, whilst Blitz, Shag, Colleen & Exile enter one of Chaos's military bases and take a fleet of Mosquito fighter planes and provide a distraction by bombarding the surrounding area of Chaos's castle. Since the Baron's men are guarding that castle, they think Chaos's men have turned on them.

But it won't take too long for the ball to drop and Chaos to unleash his forces onto the Rovers before they get away with either money or prisoner...he thinks.

Ooooh, isn't this exciting and daring?

Actually, the name was based on the steam dumpling dish cooked in the Great British Bakeoff in one of its techincal challenges this year...

Apart from Gerry Anderson and Road Rovers, where else do you get your inspiration for this series from?

Here and there. From classic cartoons to radio sitcoms, from fanfiction to webcomics...other times, it's off the top of my head.
