Megan's Tail Chapter 26: New Life Arrives It all happened suddenly. One moment, Megan walked over to the coffee pot to pour herself another cup for breakfast; the next, she fell to her knees, her cup falling to the kitchen floor with her, its spilled contents mixing with her amniotic fluid leaking through her pants. As she clenched her stomach and groaned in pain, I rushed over to her side and threw my arm around her shoulder. I asked her if the baby was coming. She could only nod as she let out an exacerbated groan. I did not wait for an answer. I whipped out my cell phone and dialed 911. I told the operator my wife had gone into labor. She asked for our location. I gave it to her. She assured me that an emergency helicopter would be dispatched and arriving shortly. She informed me to stay on the line until the paramedics arrived. I positioned Megan from off of her knees and sat her on the floor. I remained kneeling next to her, my free hand clenching onto hers
