A species of flying creatures with biological engines. The Jetsatra hail from the station Gammezet in the Destax system.
Gammezet (from the Jetsatra words Gamm meaning “Safe” and ezet meaning “Land”) is a large Megastructure with low gravity. With an atmosphere of 51%CO2 23%H2 15%CH4 and 11%N2. With it orbiting around the star of the system Destax (meaning “red serpent”) in the Reilim asteroid belt.
Gammezet is unique in that, it’s one of the few places where life has evolved on an artificial structure. The structure itself has a shape of that of a large pillar-like object, with a width of 300 kilometers, and a height of 12000 kilometers. Followed by a ring surrounding/attached to the station with a diameter of 140 kilometers, with said ring being covered by crystal-like protrusions with a height 20 kilometers.
Study and examination of the station and the life there has lead to Gammezet being discovered to be a habitat and a lab of Oxccy origin. It was originally assumed that, the station was created by the Oxccy of Craiwudol from Geizek. However, the dating of the structure has put it at being over 40000 years old, long before Craiwudol was ejected from Celtalcon.
This would mean that the station was created by one of the groups of Oxccy that were either cast-out by the order that ruled the Celtalcon system or decided to risk going past the “empty force” that isolated the Oxccy their for millennia. This evidence was further cemented by the presence of Oxccy on the moon Perit that orbits a nearby Gas Giant called Fewerall. Who are the descendants of the original inhabitants, judging by genetic data and from studying their mythology. No one knows why the inhabitants of the station decided to leave Gammezet and live on Perit, living a pseudo-hunter-gatherer existence. All is known is that the station has been uninhabited since then.
Due to Gammezet being uninhabited by any other intelligent form of life before the Jetsatra, has lead to the station being un-maintained for thousands of years. Leading to life on the station to grow, flourish, and evolve. In addition to this, some parts of Gammezet have broken down, causing sections to be either uninhabitable or open to the vacuum of space. Which, is due to either the station being hit by meteorites, systems breaking down to due lack of maintenance or by systems being damaged by wildlife due to it running rampant across the station. This has resulted in life not only evolving on the station but in space as well. Specifically in the Reilim asteroid belt.
The Jetsatra are carbon and boron-based lifeforms. With a length of 2.3 meters, while their width including their wingspan, is 1.5 meters. And a weight of 35 kilograms.
Covering the Jetsatras body is a thin biological skin/suit. That is made of a strong but flexible ceramic, reinforced by a crystalline material. This suit allows the Jetsatra to live in a hard vacuum, along with resisting radiation and small meteorites. In addition, this suit also has a small membrane of water within the inner layer. Allowing the Jetsatra to also resist neutron radiation and radioactive by-products as well.
Located on the front of the body is the head, which, has a missile-like shape to it and contains their brain and sensory systems. The shape of the head allows it to focus its sensors onto a target, and to better navigate around space. Their brain also has incredible processing capabilities, allowing the Jetsatra to calculate its speed and movements, and to be able to catch prey. On the head are six eyes, three on the top and three on the bottom. That are capable of seeing up to the x-ray range. These eyes, along with their sensors, allow the Jetsatra to see. These sensors can also be used to send signals in order to communicate with each other.
Located on the body are four wings, with two on each side, these are used to move and change direction in the atmosphere of Gammezet. However, these wings serve two other purposes in regards to moving through space. The first one is that the wings act as radiators, helping the Jetsatra radiate heat. And the second one is to act as a form of storage for a form of organ used to change direction in space. Which, is done by using a gyro-like system that uses electromagnetism to rotate and change direction.
Located on the back are a pair of what are essentially biological engines. These engines move the Jetsatra by manipulating the Solar Wind/particles using a form of force field. They can also be used in a similar manner in an atmosphere by injecting energy into the air as it passes through as well. In between these engines is a large oval-shaped pod covered in Titanium. This pod is used to both generate energy for both the Jetsatra and its engines, and as a storage pod for antimatter. This antimatter is stored by using a net-like system made of fullerenes, followed by this net being reinforced by metals with magnetic fields.
Their method of generating energy to “feed” themselves is done by injecting matter and antimatter within the inner part of the pod. Where the two different charge states of matter combined together to release their stored energy in the form of electromagnetic radiation in the gamma-ray range and some charge particles, with these particles along with neutrinos and the sub-trons that most of the matter reverted back to being ejected out of the body. Then, the pod proceeds to gather energy from the gamma rays by manipulating the ether, which in turn, manipulates these gamma rays. These gamma rays are manipulated into a spiraling pattern, where electricity is then gathered from it by using piezoelectric materials.
Another interesting aspect beyond the Jetsatra’s ability to contain antimatter and gather energy from it is how it obtains it. When matter is gathered by the Jetsatra, it’s taken through an organ made up of three tubes. When matter is taken to the third tube in the middle, the charges of the matter are switched, turning it into antimatter. Then, the antimatter is taken through its own tube and into a storage pod for it, while regular matter is taken through the first and second tubes and into their storage pods. This makes the organ essentially a biological matter switching device.
There are several possible reasons for having such abilities. The first one is to have a small and compact high powered energy source that would allow the Jetsatra to move through space, while also using it to reduce material/inertial mass that they would’ve had from other energy sources, allowing them to move at faster speeds. Another reason for it would be to be more efficient with the number of resources they have. Along with needing a way to make use of the other resources around them, such as rocks or gases. This, in turn, has caused two major types of behavior to happen amongst Jetsatra in regards to how they interact with each other. Where, they will either be incredibly social with each other, such as working together to capture prey and with all involved eating it in order to make full use of the matter. Or they would work alone, with them only eating rocks and gases on occasion.
Due to their bodies containing antimatter. Caution must be taken to make sure that their storage pod must not be damaged. As even a nanogram of antimatter is capable of releasing enough energy to melt a metric ton of steel. This is especially the case if a Jetsatra was in an atmosphere.
Surrounding the head are two prongs with two metal protrusions attached to them. These prongs are used to both skewer and slice prey, and to produce a laser beam. With the ability to produce a laser being done by manipulating the ether, much like that with their energy producing methods, in order to take out fast-moving prey. This can also be used as another form of communication as well by producing a low-frequency laser and directing it to another Jetsatra.
Underneath the body are two mouths. The first mouth is a regular one, made up of several sharp teeth meant for organic flesh and rocks. While the second one, is a magnetic net in the form of a two fork protrusion located inside the first mouth, this net is used to gather gases and particles for eating.
Jetsatra reproduce asexually by firing small pods that contain their DNA. With the Jetsatra launching these pods into Gammezet or any habitable area. These pods will then begin to use ramjets and sensors to move around and find a place to attach themselves to. After three weeks, these pods hatch into worm-like forms, that’ll live on the station and feed on organic food via chemical energy for two years. Then, these worms will then form a chrysalis around itself and will remain in this state for a year before hatching out as a fully grown Jetsatra.
CULTURE AND GOVERNMENT
The Jetsatra focus greatly on speed and movement, often engaging in a form of fast-moving “dancing” called “Athanj.” Where they move in several fast and rhythmic patterns, forming several shapes of different sizes alongside manipulating light for communication, entertainment, attracting prey, boast, and intimidate other Jetsatra when fighting them. Along with the Jetsatra trying to move as fast as possible, often engaging in sports and activities with high adrenaline and risk, along with creating sports with such things. One such sport is called “belt drag.” Where they move around through an asteroid belt while making quick course corrections at high speeds.
The Jetsatra have an incredible knowledge of energy and particle physics. Being able to produce unique engines and energy systems from that knowledge. One of them, was the technology to produce ether crystals, giving them greater energy storage. Which, when combined with other technologies, has allowed them to expand deeper into space.
Much like the Quitp. The Jetsatra have natural spaceflight capabilities, allowing them to move around through space. Which also Causes them to have a natural interest in astronomy. However, they are not as restricted as the Quitp are in regards to how far they can go. Leading them to have room to expand and at a much greater rate. And since they have natural spaceflight abilities, they don’t rely on ships as much as other species do. Instead, they only use energy generators/gatherers and storage modules and sensors that are attached to themselves. Meaning that they are the spaceships themselves.
However, they do use and rely on space stations/habitats, as they need them for their young and as a place for facilities and industry. And they have incredible knowledge of building and setting up space-based systems. They especially have great industries and knowledge of them in general, due to them living in a zero-gravity environment. With them being capable of asteroid and comet mining.
Due to their mental abilities, The Jetsatra are quick thinkers and can focus that mental power easily. Allowing them to work on a project and have it done in moments. Combined with their access to Oxccy technology via Gammezet, they have become incredibly advanced.
As stated before, there are two major social systems amongst Jetsatra when interacting with each other. The majority of Jetsatra have strong social interactions with each other and work together. While others only interact with themselves. These members are called Tedgsel. They spend time by themselves, traveling across space and living a normal existence in certain areas.
Jetsatra Government is composed of a group called the Rewqui, who are made up of several Jetsatra with several skill sets that handle and take care of their people and make all laws and decisions for their people. Followed by members called Fewqui. Who work as apprentices for the Rewqui in their field of study, along with being the ones that will take their place as rulers of their people. With the majority of these people being their own children. Any individual under the Rewqui can choose to leave their rule and go their own way if they wish. With these individuals either becoming Tedgsels or becoming Rewqui as well.
