Description

Some butterflies even bring bad luck. :butterfly: (Butterfly)

I finally got her design all done and done! :D (Big Grin) Mirabel Madrigal as the Black Butterfly/the spirit of Bad Luck. And whoa! omfg Mirabel looks SO spooky and yet SO beautiful at the same time! Oh Noes!  Fear  I am a dummy! Flirtatious

Story: It all started once Mirabel thought she had saved the miracle and the casita. She laughed with Isabela after discovering just moments ago that her older sister can create more than just flowers now. But Abuela Alma wasn't laughing once she noticed the girls, mostly Isabela's new look, all shocked and outraged. Mirabel tried to tell her everything that was happening and that it turned out Isabela wanted Mirabel to ruin the proposal all along. But as usual, her Abuela didn't take her youngest grand daughter seriously. She berated her and blamed for everything that had happened. Mirabel was hurt by this.

But this time it was more than that. Inside, she felt a new emotion rising. Something she couldn't quite make out at first, but she would later on. After rethinking things over and letting Alma's harsh words sink in, she couldn't take being the odd one out of her family and her Abuela's neglect anymore. And so, she took it out on her, saying that the magic was dying all because of her, much to Alma's own surprise and hurt. It was then, the casita started falling apart all over again, much worse than before. Everyone either tried saving the candle or took cover from the falling debris. Mirabel climbed up the crumbling walls and got the candle herself, but she lost her balance and fell to the ground. The casita luckily made a last minute attempt to save her from being crushed. Sadly though, her home was now destroyed. Her mother checked on her and told her to wait on the spot as she went to get some help. Mirabel looked down and watched what was left of the candle crumble to ash. Then even though Mirabel didn't see it, as she looked around at her family comforting and aiding each other, the candle's power had absorbed itself into her body. Her eyes set on her Abuela last. Silently she glared at her along with the rest of her family one last time and ran off, thinking, "Well, now you see what it's really like to be left out!"

Mirabel sat by the stream, shedding angry tears, not caring if her now powerless family found her or not. She bitterly said to herself, "Why should I even care anymore? Besides, they deserve to suffer the same way I had suffered. And if I can't have a gift, then no one can!" But then, she jumped once she heard a male, British accented voice right behind her ask, "Oh, are you sure about that...Mirabel?" She turned to see none other than Pitch Black standing right in front of her. After introducing himself to her and telling her the fact that he knows and feeds off of everyone's fears (including hers, which is not being able to fit in with her family), he says he knows what it feels like to be shunned and shut out by everyone else just because he too was different in his own way. And that he can help her with her loneliness and give her a gift. At first, Mirabel wasn't too sure. But Pitch added that there was someone else whom he thought was just like him before being rejected that person (that person being Jack). And he thought there was nobody else like him at all, until he first saw Mirabel. He said that they have so much of "that misfortune" in common, that he saw darkness dwelling deep inside of her. That it grew every single time she would watch her family use their powers or when she even heard someone mention them. Mirabel thought it over for a moment and then finally understood what that new feeling inside of her was: Vengance. She wanted to make everyone, especially her own family pay for the way she's been treated all those years. So she accepted Pitch's offer.

After taking his hand, the symbol from the miracle candle glowed on her hand. But this time, this glow was dimmer. Gray. It glowed like that once black sand started swirling up her arm and eventually around her body, changing her appearance. Her hair grew longer and her eyes were the same golden silver color of Pitch's, but with black surrounding them both. Butterfly wings grew from her back and two antennae's from her head. And her dress turned black and grey. She even gained mascara and eye shadow and her lips and nails turned dark blue. And black sandals with butterfly designs appeared on her feet. She was now longer the quirky, friendly girl longing for a miracle anymore. From now on, she was known as the spirit of bad luck, the Black Butterfly. Then after taking off her glasses and smashing them under her foot, she's finally come to accept not only herself, but her new abilities and title and left with her new master.

Her powers:

. She has powers over black sand now, just like Pitch. So she can create anything with it as she pleases, weapons included. Her signature weapon being a spear, with a fear tied to it. The kind that Aztec's used in the ancient Colombian days.

. She can also use black sand to bring different items and creatures to life after hand crafting them. But the kind of creatures she mainly makes are (obviously) black butterflies (which are symbols of bad luck in Colombia) and black cats, sending them out in the open to bring bad luck to anyone (since some people can be superstitious of them).

. Mirabel handcrafts voodoo dolls of people too (like the one that looks like Abuela Alma in my drawing). She chooses her victims whenever she decided to bring bad luck on them. She doesn't use pins on them, but instead, uses black sand for them too, enchanting them whenever she moves and turns them in different angles. Like for instance, for the expression, "Step on a crack, break your mothers back", she would bend those kinds of dolls backs after she senses the mothers child step on a crack.

. She can sense not only that, but she also knows whenever someone has come across bad luck. It's her energy source and she gets stronger every time that happens.

Relationships:

Pitch: Mirabel was at first surprised to see him on their first meeting and unsure of actually getting a gift from him. But after he tells her he knows what it's like to feel alone and shunned by everyone, she actually starts to sympathize with him, just like he does with her since she was five years old. And she considers his offer and accepts it, ready to finally have magic powers of her own. Unlike her Abuela, Pitch is actually impressed and proud of her newfound abilities, seeing that he has teaching her very well. Plus, he's just more than glad to finally have someone by his side.

Anna: She too sympathizes with Mirabel. She knows what it feels like to be alone and not have powers of her own, being the odd one out. And so because of that, even though Anna still has no choice but to fight her, she doesn't really want to deep down and wants to snap her out of it and reunite her with her family somehow, someday. If Mirabel wasn't corrupted, they would both actually get along really great, do to both of them being equally optimistic, brave and having a quirky sense of humor.

Jack: Same reason as Anna. Just like them, Jack knows what it's like to be alone. For he too watched Mirabel suffer loneliness since she was little. Due to being a believer of all kinds of magic though, it was most likely that she might have seen him and caught glimpses of him on certain occasions before back then, when no one else did. Seeing Anna as a younger sister figure, he also wants to help her restore Mirabel back to the way she was somehow, someday.

Other:

. Anna and Mirabel are complete opposites. Anna is light and fights alongside the Guardians, while Mirabel is darkness and fights alongside Pitch.

. I wanted to make her hair longer to make it resemble her voice actress's, Stephanie Beatriz. Plus, while she has longer hair, Anna has cut her hair shorter. Another fact about them being polar opposites in the Rise of the Guardians/Frozen/Encanto AU.

. The skirt of her dress is supposed to be concept art I found in the Encanto art book. And those patterns are supposed to be ashes, inspired by what happened to the miracle candle.

. All of the imprints on her dress (except the butterfly, which now has the same colors of her own wings) that represented her families powers had disappeared during her transformation, since she no longer considers herself as part of her (former) family. :( (Sad)

. She wears sandals like just like her Tio Bruno, only hers are black and designed differently with butterflies on them. :butterfly: (Butterfly)

Very interesting you made, but here’s an accurate version.

That can happen when she dies when Casita falls and becomes a guardian. It could be like what is with Melody and Morgana in The Little Mermaid Return to The Sea and with Ruby and Chelsea/Nerissa in Ruby Gillman Teenage Kraken. Just like them, Pitch would manipulate and deceive Mirabel and as she becomes on his side, they’ll be close with each other. Then it gets to the part in which Mirabel discovers his true colors and when she does and confronts Pitch, he’ll then betray him just like again, when Morgana and Chelsea betrayed Melody and Ruby in their own cases.
