Throughout the Bible, imagery of a lost sheep is used AAAAALL the time to illustrate the way God (the Shepherd) pursues and finds those who have gone astray (Psalm 119:176, Isaiah 53:6, Jeremiah 50:6, Mark 6:34, 1 Peter 2:25, etc. etc.). So then I wondered what the heck kinds of sheep were actually raised in Bible times, and a quick google search of "Israeli sheep" brought up this bizarre and truly apocalyptic-looking creature, The Jacob Sheep. They're black and white and they often have four horns. This one is a ram. I love them so much.
