Cover art for Jan Dolanský's "Mohavee" track release. Got somewhat back to what got me into all the work I do with this piece. Good old touch ups and photo manipulation. Had some trouble finding a model for this piece since my idea was rather specific. After having multiple people turn me down due to not having time or other private matters interfering I asked a good friend of mine if she'd give it a shot. Turned out rather nice so huge thanks to her for this! Wouldn't be nearly as awesome without her to be honest...
I spent a lot of time refining the idea and feel of the piece. Although the photo manipulation itself is rather simple I spent a good deal on the composition and layout trying to make things look as polished and clean as possible but at the same time making it look down to earth in a distinct way. The first thought that went into this piece was creating an entity that had a rather human side to it but at the same time invokes the thought of a guardian angel of some sort. I looked into references in American Indian culture and such to get some ideas and found some elements that I was rather fond of. At the same time I wanted things to look outlandish too. I thought the coloring would do this job well and it certainly did. The title of the track fit quite well here as well being not the naming of a place ("Mojave") but rather the naming of an entity ("Mohavee"). Thought that was a neat and fitting twist that neatly wrapped up the entire idea. What do you think?
Either way, rather satisfied with this. There will be a second version soon as well with a darker tone. We will see how that turns out!
