Dance of Fairies

Cover for Jan Dolanský's upcoming Tradrec release. Had a lot of fun on this one. I don't usually do this much work in Blender alone but I felt this piece could really benefit from it. Also allowed me to expand the image and make a nice wallpaper. The cover version will be shown on the official Bandcamp page and other places so I don't find the need to upload it here. Other than, the piece was almost completely composited in Blender as well. I tweeted out an image of my node setup just a day ago so that might be interesting to some people as well. Some final corrections were done in Photoshop to round the whole piece off. I personally think it turned out quite good for just about six hours of work. Render time in total is about 55 minutes for the 3840x3840 version which is then cropped to this 16x9 ratio. The reason for this is that I have some extra room when making the 1x1 cover. It's been quite some time since I last used Blender but I have two other pieces planned in it over the next month or so. Looking forward to making those!

As for the image and what it contains. The idea was at first to have a figure - the giver of life - hold dead as well as glowing orbs containing fairies in her hands. I liked this idea at first but found it too mundane. I thought the idea of an entity handing over an object that was grabbed from some sort of source - which can be seen in the background (the spiral) - was a lot more interesting and mysterious. No idea if any of that that is relevant in the end. The image turned out good and spot on for what I had in mind so I think that's what matters!
