The loud noises had a comical and happy sound. It was a party after all! Today Lumos would finally graduate and begin his career to be a champion. He went through a lot of trouble and learned a lot. He is now obedient when wearing a halter, is happily following you wherever you lead him and also got some experience in the competition side. But today was of course important, because how could he start his career without getting his foal graduation!
There was a small group of people who came to RockyFall and stayed there for 3 days. The first day they inspected Lumos his body and how he reacted to strangers. Of course Lumos was on his best behavior and was completely healthy. So that part was over in the blink of an eye. The second day the judges looked at his walks, how he stood on his legs and how obedient he was. Just like the day before Lumos did amazing. He followed without hesitation, didn’t trip over his own legs and when he walked free he even gave a small show with routine from a former competition. The judges were impressed and said that Lumos would hear if he would graduate the following morning.
Lumos was already awake for a while when Leona came in the stable to feed and clean him. He knew this day was important and had some trouble sleeping. He stood still while Leona made his fur shiny and ate some carrots and hay in the meantime. Caithlyn was in the background cleaning stables and feeding the horses while Dante took the other horses in to the outside arena for movement. Leona would take Lumos to the inside arena in an hour to hear the judges final decision. She could feel Lumos very slightly shaking so she gave him a big hug and scratched him between the ears. After that she put a halter over his head and lead him towards the arena. It was probably a good idea to run a few rounds with him before the judges would come to see them.
After a few rounds Lumos lost all his nerves. He was almost ready for the judgment. Even thought Leona brushed him for a long while before giving him his needed movement, his coat lost its shine because of the swear. Leona had taken some brushed with her en decided to give Lumos a last brushing session before the judges would come. She took the first brush to losen all the hairs and after that a softer brush to sweep them al away. After that she took a special brush to make sure his coat got extra shiny and clean. 20 minutes had already passed when Leona saw the judges coming towards the arena. The door was left open after the training so she could see them coming. Luckily Lumos was al clean and ready for the final judgement and perhaps his graduation picture.
The judges walked to the pair and stood next to each other. The person in the middle said “We took all our opinions together and counted the points. Congratulations! Your horse has officially finished his EquiBreak foal courses and can now continue his future as a show horse.”
Leona smiled and said thank you a few times. Caithlyn and Dante walked just close enough to hear the results and loudly applauded and yelled. Leona quickly gave a hug to Lumos who got a little scared by the yelling from Caithlyn and Dante. It was time to get a picture taken of the young horse. This was a moment to remember. Our baby finally finished his first course! Leona took of the rope from the halter and walked out of the frame. One of the judges walked to Lumos his sideview, went to sit on his knee and places a camera in front of his eye.650 words
