It took Caithlyn almost an hour to get Lumos clean. He had been standing in the meadow for most of the day with the other horses and decided to find the only mud pool left and roll in it. The mud was everywhere. From a thick dried up layer on his hooves to dried up pieces in his ear. Caithlyn had to fall in for Leona, who would normally do the grooming for Lumos, since she was in town shopping. Even though she was used to dirty horses Caith hated mud a lot. She took Lumos behind the stable and got most of the mud off with the water from the hose. After that she walked back to the stable, put on gloves and a dirty shirt so her good clothes wouldn’t get dirty. While walking back to Lumos she saw Dante walking out of the saddle room and asked “can you please, please fill up that mud pool in the meadow. I’m not going to clean one more mud covered horse!”. Dante grinned and said that he would do it after his chores. Caith saw Lumos patiently standing and waiting for her. He followed her while Caith was opening the box of brushes and selected a few to brush him with. She started with cleaning his head carefully and worked her way down from there.
It took at least 45 / 60 minutes before Lumos was mud free. He was clearly agitated and eager to be gone from the showers. Caithlyn untied the ropes and walked with him. She didn’t want to take the change of leaving him in the stable since he was still a bit wet and didn’t want him to catch a cold. So she walked towards the meadow were she found Dante. “Is the hole filled up?” Caithlyn asked.
“It sure is. I also checked the rest of the meadow and there is no secret mud pool anywhere”
Caithlyn smiled and opened the meadow to let Lumos go.
Lumos is free!
He quickly ran past all the other horses. The only thing he could think of was to punish the human for making him stand that long being bored. He ran to the place where he found the mud pool only to discover it was gone. A little sad he thought about other ways to get a little dirty. He rolled through the grass and ran towards all the other horses to smear some of it on their fur. The other horses didn’t really care since they were tired from training. After a short time of smearing mud on the horses he saw some rabbits running next to the meadow. He followed them and saw one running in their hole. He also wanted his own hole. So he walked around the meadow until he found the perfect spot. He carefully scraped at the ground and once he knew it was safe he digged deeper and deeper. He digged until his own hole / mud pool was created. He rolled around in it, got up and ran as fast as he could to the other horses. A few horses, including Raven and Aurelion, ran away from the foal. They were tired of his energy and didn’t want to get more mud on them. This went on for a while until Lumos got tires and walked to his mom to take a nap.
At the end of the day Leona came back and asked Dante and Caithlyn to help with getting all the horses back in the stable. When they came towards the meadow they couldn’t believe their eyes. All horses were covered in mud and grass! Caithlyn looked like she had seen a ghost. “But you said you filled up the mud pool!” Caithlyn angrily said to Dante. “And I did. Maybe that monster found out that he could make his own mud pool!” he angrily said back. Leona sighed and said “whatever situation it is, the horses are dirty and have to be cleaned before everything dries up”. Caithlyn made sure to remember them every minute how much she hated mud.686 words
