Description
Results: 1st Place
Horse: AS Foxfire
Jockey: Amalie McKenzie
Stable: Antrium Stables
Race: WBS Weekly Races
Class: WBS Weekly Thoroughbred Flat Race (Left Handed 1 1/16th miles on dirt)
The last time I did this background! (I wanted to use the same background angle so that I could see if I’ve improved any. Everything has been completely redrawn.)
Story: Snow was hardly something Fox had never seen before. He had ran, skidded and played in it for what felt like five, sometimes six, months out of every twelve and the rest of the year it was nearly always soggy and wet so slipping wasn’t anything new to him and keeping his balance while running was something on an art for Scottish Race Horses.
Still, the snow was not pleasant to run in and it was clear by the way he was acting up that Fox did not approve of his gingers choice of race. He shook and pulled on the bit, trying to avoid her hand, bouncing along the track in a distracted manner. While she wrestled with the colt he slipped in the snow and she almost lost her balance on his back, dropping one rein. After the near fall, Fox seemed to listen more, especially after a light scolding. He loosened up and started running again, though his stride was noticeably shorter than usual.
Amalie chocked his behaviour up to his youth an inexperience, his juvenile acting was forgivable as he was a juvenile. “Try not to throw us into the snow, boy, it’s a long walk back in this cold.” She urged him forward, for once eager for a race to be over.
