He Will Be Fine

In Response to “No Matter What” because Abyaz needs his turn xD

Abyaz + Fox are mine 

When Abyaz went to check up on Fox he found him passed out, nestled against his mother. The sight would’ve been comical - a giant overgrown foal trying to lie on his mother’s lap - if the situation wasn’t so unpleasant. Abyaz was given entry and wandered slowly into the stall, walking behind them. 

Ghost had been curled around Fox almost protectively (though he was much to big now for her to truly curl around) and so had seen him come in. He smiled reassuringly and pressed his muzzle to her cheek. “He’ll be fine, Ghost, he always is. He just needs rest after pushing himself so much.” Abyaz had complete faith that he’d recover. The White Lightening had never lost a child yet and for as long as he lived he hoped it’d stay that way. Fox had always been sickly but he was also strong. As could be seen by how had both his parents softly doting on him, it was clear he was also loved, something Abyaz knew was a rarity nowadays. 

Abyaz didn't like seeing Ghost like that. She was always more spunky, overly friendly - why, when they first met he had found her constant optimism and airheadedness rather trying but in a way it made her special. He couldn’t recall a time he’d laughed harder when he’d heard her compare herself to a duck, of all the creatures she could’ve chosen. Not a cheetah, not even a falcon, a duck. The only thing funnier than that was Fox’s reaction to it. 

He knew she’d missed him. It was obvious but they were together now and Fox would be fine, Abyaz would not allow otherwise. He didn’t want her to stay so sad. Ghost was special to him, after all, as both a friend and more. Abyaz had covered many mares, had many, many children but Ghost was the only one he’d chosen - and he the only one she had chosen back. Fox would be fine because there was nothing wrong with his existence. Abyaz wasn’t the type that fell in love, not outwith his children of course, it didn’t really come into his equation and he believed that bonds built on friendship and respect were greater and Ghost had been the only mare that ever filled that position - had filled it since the day she’d asked about his daughters with such genuine interest. She was special for more reasons than just being the Mother of his son. 

Abyaz had always allowed Ghost to be the optimist throughout their friendship and now it was his turn. 

“He will be fine.”
