"I won't force you to stay, but know that if you leave now, this moment will stay with you forever. So...won't you stay?"

***

Once again, I present a picture of my favorite fan-service cat-girl, Amber. This time, I tried giving her a more realistic character design (similar to the last two cat-girl pictures) and I'm very pleased with the transition, especially with her hair. I also deviated from my normal procedures and constructed most of the background before even beginning to CG my kitty and I must say it worked pretty well doing it that way. I wanted to create more than just a picture this time - I wanted to capture a moment (hence the little bit of Amber's dialogue above) and hopefully I've succeeded in that.

There was a lot of challenge in this - correcting a lot of anatomical errors, coloring all that (sexy!!) lace, and more - but it was a very good exercise. Rather than going into more detail here (finally, he's going to shut up! :)), I'll keep this description brief and if there are any specifics y'all want to know just ask away. Thanks everyone for your comments and continued support - that's from me and all my cat-girls!

Please be sure to check out "Amber in White Lace" too.

Certainly an interesting realistic style, she looks quite elegant and refined, but there is juat a tad of the "uncanny valley" effect here, still looks good though.

Well, my goal was to draw her much more realistically than I had before - in previous drawings her design was much closer to a pure anime/manga style. She's got a much more mature look here which helps make this picture work well. Even after over 3 years this picture still holds up pretty well in my view. Thanks for the comment!

Whoa, I just noticed you had added this piece to the Kemonomimilovers group, and I must admit your style of drawing furry is quite impressive. The character looks really gorgeous, I love her clothing and the fur looks just amazing. Plus that very well-done and interesting character design. Great work!

Thanks very much! Amber is one of my absolute favorite characters and I love drawing her. This was the first picture where I refined her design, making her face a bit more realistic which definitely helps give this picture a more mature atmosphere. I'll admit I love dressing up my kitty girls in sexy lingerie (especially Amber!) - the lace is time consuming but well worth the final product. There's definitely more of Amber yet to come. Thanks again!

Thanks much! I still like how this turned out in terms of lighting/shadows and I'm trying to pay more attention to that in my current works.

I'd love to see how you'd draw Amber - give her your best shot. My one restriction with her is no nudity, but she's certainly not afraid to show some skin. ;) Definitely have fun! =^-^=

I am just totally mesmerized by her stately yet seductive beauty! I would definitely stay if she asked me, whether for wine, catnip, and/or conversations for politics & religion(I am even willing to make sacrifices). The overall composition is truly inspiring, since each element of this superb artwork complement one another to make the entire picture so memorable. Your detailed art & cging is excellent, to say the least, and convey an air of mystery & seductiveness. Your girl Amber is totally hot in her white lingerie; she reminds me of Helena(very sexy yet classy at the same). Great job! *FAV* ^^

With that beautiful form standing before you, I think you'd have to be crazy not to stay. :D I'm still very pleased with how this turned out and glad that you (and others) share my appreciation. I'd have to say Amber would probably have much more fun-loving personality than Helena...but I agree that she does have a very elegant look here. Hmm...I bet Helena would look great in that lingerie too. Thanks much for your comment!

Thanks much Kat! I really know what I'm doing now when it comes to hair - I stopped trying to make every stroke perfect and just keep working it. This picture really was about capturing a moment, so I tried to get the mood just right...and aside from coloring all that lace, it was a lot of fun.

Firstly....LOVE the hair, such shape and depth..makes me want to pet it, youve definetly made it a strong point of your art. After staring at her for a few minutes i think that her hips are..misplaced? i think that if you made her stomach a bit wider then they wouldnt seem out of place... other than that there isnt really anything that i can nitpick. The background looks really nice, she fits with it perfectly. i can see youve spent alot of time on improving the hair so i know you can do it for every other aspect of your art! Keep it up!!!

Thanks very much! I feel much more comfortable doing hair now - it still takes time and effort, but I'm very pleased with the results. I'll have to further scrutinize her hips/abs area...I did a lot of corrections in that area during the coloring process so she definitely looks much better in that area than from my pencil sketch. I do take my art a lot more seriously than I used to and I think I'm finally starting to flex my creative muscles, so to speak. I promise only better stuff to come! :)

I love the lighting. I can tell you got the background the way you wanted it first because the skintones just fit so well with it - perfectly chosen, and she kinda just blends in with the sky, which she should I think. Background first is definately the way to do it with a dark picture like this. The night sky and the door and balcony really do add a certain "capturing the moment" atmosphere, although I agree with Rita in that I'd like to see more activity going on back there - maybe fireworks?

I also like the hair and the way the strands separate, and there ain't nothing wrong with that clothing. Skillfully done. The thing I'd say though is that her pose doesn't really seem natural enough. It looks too much like she's been posed deliberately, yanno? It's difficult to make it seem otherwise, I agree, but I'm thinking it's mostly her left arm - it seems too straight. Realistically, I think it would be more leaning backwards so that the upper arm is heading behind her, and the forearm is going forward to her hip.. sorry, it's difficult to describe, but I'd say it should generally be a bit looser.

Other than that, very good. I can see you've put a good deal of work into this and should be commended for it. Well done. ^^

Thanks very much - challenging picture but very rewarding! I understand your point about her arm...getting my figures to have a more natural, relaxed pose is something I need to work on (as well as improving my pose diversity overall). After looking at it a bit more, I think I could have done a better job with the shading for the bend/joint on the inside (though I actually did this part twice already). The skin tones were actually all done at "normal" lighting, then I just used my shadow layer/layer mask technique. I actually didn't give the door its dark shade until I was almost finished - when I put the shading on Amber, I still had this bright, white door standing there. That was easy to change and clearly fits in much better. I love digital art as it's so easy to make adjustments and corrections on the fly.

The big reason I did the background first is so that I wouldn't skimp on the effort - far too often, I'll spend plenty of time on my main figure(s) then end up just throwing together a background rather hastily ("Elegant Beauty" suffers from this a little - I had wanted to do more with the surroundings but by that time I just wanted to finish the damn thing :)). That was not going to happen this time, though admittedly the background here isn't too complex. I'm gradually addressing a lot of the "holes" in my artwork, so to speak..."lack of decent backgrounds" being a pretty big one. At least I know how to CG hair now. :D

As for fireworks...well, there may well be some on that balcony. ;)

wow!!!! this is stunning! i liked it as a sketch and now it looks even better! i already told you are really good at coloring, the shading is really perfect, thanks for submitting "Amber in white lance", i can see more datails there cause on this picture she's standing on dark ballcony and many of the lingerie's details are barely visible ( but it's the way it should be!!!). I really like the door too, good jobs with the windows, i still haven't learned how to draw the reflections on them:) the only thing that looks a bit weird are those spots on the sky (planets?)i think more stars and a moon would be more romantic but hey i'm just a girl :P

lovely artwork!

Thanks very much Rita - I figured you'd like how this turned out. ;) I wasn't really sure if I wanted to give her the atmospheric shading, but she was definitely way too bright to fit in with the background. I purposefully posted the other picture to show off her lingerie - that lace took a long time to paint and I wanted to make sure y'al could see the detail (plus I do like how she looks against the pure black background). The "spots" are supposed to be moons...that may not be obvious and maybe I should have tried to make them look more realistic, but I wanted them to look very bright (almost magical I suppose ;)). I had thought about putting her reflection in the glass door, but I think it looks better without too much detail on it and lets Amber remain the main focus (as she should be :D). Glad you like it - it only gets better from here!
