well, i've been doing photography for about two weeks now, and it is awesomeness! 
i always liked the idea of taking photos but never got into it. i have memories of my grandfather always carrying around a camera with all types of lenses and stuff. after he passed away in dec. 2007 i decided to do something in his memory. one, i got a tattoo, so kewl, and two, i decided to get into photography seeing that my earliest memory of photo taking is from my grandpa. i spent 5 months in a place like no other. a place that has no mercy on anyone or anything. a place that is unforgiving, no matter your sex, age, or race. i spent 5 months in iraq before going home for two weeks. the 5 months passed very quickly, but the 2 weeks passed by even quicker...it felt weird, almost unreal to be back home. those who have never experienced anything like this say i'm a changed man. in my eyes i am the same person i was before entering the military, the only difference now is that i have a different outlook on life and death, friends and enemies, joy and dissatisfaction, etc...it's funny how when a person is he...

this place, iraq, is like another planet. many things are different, the landscape, the sounds, the tastes, the smells. back home you wake up in the morning to the sounds of birds singing, traffic, people talking, etc. here i wake up to the sounds of gun fire, military aircraft, bombs exploding, people yelling, and if its none of those then the air is completely silent. back home you if you walk around on a summer day you smell freshly cut grass, in the fall its the smell of rotting leaves, in the winter the freezing cold almost has its own smell, and in the spring you smell the rain. here there are only two seasons, the dry and rainy...
