Thank you for the +fav on "fractal recursion", (and for digging that far into my gallery)

This image was done in Maya, but was not due to any special feature of that software, (Maya's MEL scripting language makes it easier).

This is simply a polygon model copied and translated with several iterations. It could have been done with most any polygonal modeling package.

Creating this type of fractal only requires an understanding of 3D geometry and transformations. It also requires a bit of experimenting, and patient tenacity.

Feel free to ask questions, I'm happy to help in any way I can.

Thanks,
Some new images will be posted today under the scraps section if you're interested.
I've been working on developing fractal flames in 3d similar to Apophysis

Nice work, edit it in photoshop making blur at some place in the edge, with a litle inner glow :), the render will be really nice after!!! :D If u want, i can do it! :P

Thanks,

That's kinda what I had in mind, the orange tubes would be more of an energy beam with no real surface, just a glowing beam. The bands would have probably been transparent with refractions, close to glass clear. The color scheme needs to be changed, but it was really only a modeling test, .....that and it just about crashed my computer, lots of polygons.

More and better things to come....

Feel free to play with it all you want

I don't know anything about fractals but I'm always drawn to them... and spines alike... so this is awesome!
