Thank you for visiting my gallery. As you can see, I'm kind of all over the board with what I do in my artwork. While I strive for versatility, the thing I enjoy most is portraits and anything involving the human form, especially if I can incorporate a retro vibe. To me, capturing a likeness is the biggest challenge because, unlike other subjects, it doesn't allow for any shortcuts; it either looks like the person or it doesn't. Seeing that face come to life on that paper brings the sort of personal satisfaction that only another artist can truly understand. At the same time it inspires me to keep refinining my technique and try other things that will add a touch of enhancement to the final result. Regardless of the media I'm working in, I approach and handle every project as though it's a drawing. This has helped me maintain a certain level of consistency and a more sure hand. Lots of times I go for total realism in order to sharpen my eye, but I've always admired artists whose work combines both tight and loose aspects within the same piece. I try to do that in subtle ways when doing certain portraits. For instance, while the facial features can give off an almost photographic sense of realism, the hair gets stylized, or a part of the body fades out in a sketch-like fashion. Just little embellishments that tell you you're looking at something that was done by a human hand and not by a camera.
Anyway, that's my kick. You can browse through my stuff and see if I practice what I preach.
I truly appreciate your interest and hope you enjoy your stay!
