Cover illustration for The Washington Post, Medical Mysteries column about a woman who was diagnosed with a rare and grim form of aggressive stage IV cancer. Her doctor had said "Get your affiars in order, your life expectancy is now measured in months." Despite the odds she fought a three year long battle with the fiend assaulting her body from within and won!

I agree fully with Corrade, the meanings behind the image really bring out its depth. I've had my full share of monsters in my life, and this perfectly describes the feeling of bravery and getting back on your feet again. Beautiful job.
The image is shrouded and framed in a beautifully refined dark gradient. The shadowed monster coming down from above gives the impression of its overwhelming size and how its looming over the woman as if trying to swallow her, though the piercing, heroic stance of the white character shows resilience and inner strength. I really love this work, awesome job!
