It's over two hours after midnight, and I tuck myself in after another typical day chilling at home.  My eyes shut, and sleep comes over me.

All of a sudden, I find myself in a coffeehouse, similar to one I frequent, except this time... I'm the one behind the counter.  I'm dressed how I normally am, except my long hair is pulled back into a ponytail, my mesh sleeves are pushed back to my elbows, my bracelets have been removed, and my fingernails are without nail polish.  Added to my regular outfit are a visor cap and an apron.  How did I even get hired?  I remember applying to a barista job once, but never did I hear back from the business.  Hmm... I guess I should be glad I got hired at all.  The job is fast-paced, but not overly difficult.  My coworker is a crow girl dressed mostly in pink, with pigtails and glasses.  She looks to be a few feet shorter than I am.  She is quiet and introverted, not unlike myself.

The coffeehouse is having a slow day, which could explain why I'm not struggling too much with this job right now.  There's a television hanging from a corner of the ceiling.  I sometimes glance up at televisions in restaurants and similar businesses, but never do they seem to play something I was actually interested in watching all the way through.  This time, there's a sudden news bulletin, grabbing the attention of everyone in the coffeehouse.  Featured are some important people I vaguely recognize.  A stranger, who clearly isn't from my planet, appears with them.

This stranger... is a tall, slender guy with pale lavender skin or fur with facial markings, elf-like ears, pupil-less yellow eyes, and claw-like fingers.  He's wearing a dark business suit.  One look at him, and I can tell... he's a Galra.  I was aware of the existence of Galra, but hadn't seen any in person before.  A handsome guy this stranger is, I would admit.

He asks for all the cameras to film him; apparently, he has something he wants to announce to the whole planet.

"I have been watching you all, and I've decided... only one of you is worthy..." he states.

This makes some of us in the coffeehouse confused.  Worthy?  Of what?  To live, or...?  We wait anxiously for the Galran stranger to elaborate, and sure enough, he does.

"...Worthy of my heart." the stranger finishes.

We relax a bit in response, relieved that none of us will have to die just yet.  Okay.  Multiple eyes and ears are glued to the television.  Who is it?  Is it a celebrity?  A model?  That cat girl with the blue hair and black dress?  I was so sure that the Galran stranger would pick out some photogenic girl or guy from my planet, but the next thing I know, he turns in my direction.

"You." he states, pointing a clawed finger.

My bespectacled eyes widen in surprise.  What?  Me?  No, he had to be kidding me.  As if he could even see me from wherever he's being filmed!  But no, his pupil-less yellow eyes stare down at me in a serious expression.  My coworker and the customers also turn to look in my direction.  But why, why would he be interested in me of all people?  For a girl, I'm not very girly or conventionally attractive.  Even on my planet, girls like myself aren't typically considered model material.  I'm convinced that the majority of the world secretly thinks I'm a guy pretending to be a girl.  I gesture to myself, as if to ask, "Who, me?"

"Yes, you." the stranger nods.

Our eyes stare into each other, as I try to process all of this.  Even if I was confident about myself, I didn't even know his guy.  How is he so sure that we are romantically compatible?  And even if I wanted to date him, I'm not ready to settle down!  All these thoughts spin around in my head, when suddenly, my alarm goes off.

My eyes shoot open, and I realize I'm still in bed.  It... It was just a dream!  I breathe a sigh of relief, before turning off my alarm and putting my glasses on.  Wow... That was some dream.
I was inspired by a writing prompt I came across on Tumblr corancoranthemagicalman.tumblr… , and I thought, what if I did a variant of this for my persona and Ulaz?  I feel that in the barista-lawyer AU that this pairing is in, such a scenario would be more suited as a dream sequence than something that happens in reality.  So, I wrote a short fic, reinterpreting the prompt as a dream that my persona experiences.  To clarify, this dream sequence happens before my persona would actually meet Ulaz for the first time. (Ulaz belongs to DreamWorks Animation.)

I hate those dreams where they just seem so real even when the most
impossible things on Earth are happening. And then when you wake up,
it really is a relief to get away from all that kookiness.
