This is a redraw of a very old fan art piece I made 13 years ago for a very niche puzzle game made by the same people behind Irisu Syndrome.

Looking back, I’m quite surprised not a single indie dev has ever attempted to make a game similar to Love Mochi. It has such a unique gameplay style despite it being solely made for a game jam. If anything, puzzle games in general need to make a comeback at some point with more innovated gameplay than ever. Could just be me though.

Wanted to showcase how I can make this piece really pop, so I decided to experiment with the color toning for the line art and balancing everything into a nice shade of red. Also wanted to go crazy with the background by adding a bunch of sweets in reference to the game’s game over screen in some way; and if you look closely, I also added a little something as a nod to the game’s horror narrative as well.

I still need to get better at drawing skirts being positioned at certain way though. I just can’t really seem to find any good references for the angles I’m looking for.
