The Arnetts

Ruby’s parents, Barbara and Kevin Arnett. The Arnetts fit in naturally in the upper-class suburbs. Kevin is a car dealer, and has an affable, but dominant personality. He likes to be the center of attention and show off his material possessions. He and his wife are both characteristically loud, overbearing, and very proud of their daughter. Ruby is an A+ student, and she never disappoints them. Even when she does wrong, they manage to turn it around and find a positive spin on it. They take criticisms of Ruby quite personally. Some find the Arnetts obnoxious, such as their next door neighbors, the Stockdells. The Stockdells pretend to be friends with the Arnetts for the sake of congeniality, even though they hate having to go to their barbecues and other events.
