Originally drawn on March 31, 2018. Rosa Lee is a fairly old character that dates back to when I was primarily a twitter artist. When I first designed her, I had a flapper girl motif in mind, an anachronism that’s been downplayed a lot over the years, but is still sort of there. What’s definitely not there anymore are her old colors. I didn’t have any specific species I wanted her to be; she was just a generic bird with purple feathers and pink hair. The purple feather on her headband is a reference to these old colors. When I shifted art styles, I figured she needed the most attention. I found this image when going over old chat logs from my old pal Jack Kirby, who’s sadly no longer online. As it turns out, that day five years ago, we were discussing this, and he helped me decide what species Rosa Lee ought to be. It’s interesting that I considered making her a dove, since I would go on to give her a husband who is a dove.
