Personality

Susan is cheerful, extroverted, and very open-minded. She is all too eager to reach out to others and do her best to help out in whatever way she can. She wants to make everyone happy, and is seemingly immune to spreading herself too thin. In fact, the reason she accepted a job as a diner waitress was because she figured it would be an excellent opportunity to meet and familiarize herself with new people. Being new to town, she is ignorant to local norms and culture; this can lead to her doing things that other citizens wouldn’t do, such as trying to befriend the town drunk, or actually standing up to Nancy. Susan is persistent, and won’t take no for an answer. Any resistance to her friendliness is so confusing and foreign to her that it only makes her more curious, and in turn, makes her push even harder. After all, she’s loyal to her morals, and hates letting people (or herself) down. As outgoing as she is however, she can sometimes feel lonely, unable to relate to her older coworkers, and anyone within her own age group having a totally different upbringing. Susan’s actions are driven by her genuine kindness and curiosity, even if they occasionally lead her into unfamiliar territory.

Biography

Susan comes from a wealthy Louisiana family, and is Cajun. She knows a few words, but English is her first language. How she wound up in Povey begins with her boyfriend, Gil. Gil was in the Air Force, and was stationed at the nearby base of Fort Wagner. While visiting him, Gil disappeared. Not having the courage to return home and face her parents, and wanting to seek closure, Susan remained in Indiana, and put down roots in Povey. Originally intending to stay until she figured out what happened, Susan found that she liked the town more than her original home, and decided to stay. After all, she has 3 sisters at home, and being the least favorite and youngest, she figures she won’t be missed. She quickly established a friendship with Rosa Lee who took her under her wing and generously helped her out financially. She moved in across from Jesse, and wanting to be nice, she introduced herself to her new neighbor. Jesse being as cold and repellent as he is only made her more curious, and has led to even more attempts to befriend him. This curiosity eventually leads to her becoming part of the PepperUpper Club, and becoming firmly entrenched in their affairs.

Susan doesn’t have a driver’s license, nor does she know how to drive. Instead, she rides a green Schwinn Phantom bicycle everywhere she goes.

Appearance

Susan is 5’4”. She has lavender fur with white markings, and blue eyes. Her blonde hair is naturally straight, but is curled into a poofy mess, usually bound with a red and white-polka dotted bandana. She doesn’t have too many clothes, so she can often be seen wearing her work uniform in public. This consists of a light blue blouse, a dark blue skirt, and red shoes.

Skills and Abilities

Susan is an excellent mediator and a great listener, being neutral to most conflicts as well as having an ability to see both sides of an argument. She is also a dedicated and hard worker, never giving up half-way. Susan is hard to insult too, as she simply laughs it off as if it was never said at all. She also has strong morals, and a good sense of right and wrong. Her cheerful and good nature sets her apart from many of the others that she interacts with, and while it may take some time, she has a positive impact on them.

Weaknesses

Susan can be impulsive, having a tendency to jump first and think later. Her natural curiosity can also make her seem rather nosy to those that are resistant to her prying. A lot of the time, she is in over her head without knowing it, and her genuine kindness and want to help others blocks out her better judgement.
