Personality
Janice is a cultured student with a passion for theater and literature. Her role as the school's assistant theater director showcases her dedication to classic plays, albeit with her own small adjustments. From behind her large incisors and unsightly headgear, she speaks with an eloquent and sophisticated tone; constantly citing literature between lisp-ridden sentences, her flowery language can be an annoyance to some. As much as she adores classic tales, she makes it abundantly clear that there aren’t enough about the wild west. She considers Louis L'Amour high art, and rewrites centuries old plays with Cowboys and Indians in her free time for fun, which she occasionally presents to the school in hopes that her work will be accepted for a production. Her unwavering determination to have her reimagined plays accepted for production, despite repeated rejections, shows her commitment and confidence. Janice is very bright, optimistic, and outgoing. She can be overly enthusiastic and friendly, and she doesn’t seem to have a grievance with anyone, no matter their reputation. Her ability to get along with a wide range of people, even if her manner of speaking might be hard to understand at times, speaks to her open and approachable nature. Janice’s family owns a large farm, and she spends a lot of her time with them as she values family greatly. Although she's socially adept and tries to engage others, including her friend Margaret, her interactions can sometimes be awkward. She enjoys helping others and offering advise from her unique perspective, and her inspiring attitude can be infectious.
Biography
The Powell Family settled the land that became their farm in the mid 1800s, and part of the family split to head west, and now occupy Idaho. As Janice was always captivated with stories of the Old West that she heard on the radio, she would frequently write to that side of her family. Wanting to create her own stories, she picked up fiction writing as a hobby, using the stories she got from her relatives as inspiration. Her friendship with Margaret began when they were in grade school, as Margaret's father frequented their farm to buy supplies. Because of her crooked teeth, she was given braces and large headgear when she was 14, which she's been wearing ever since. These have never served as a hinderance to her though, and she acts as if she doesn’t know they’re there at all.
Appearance
Janice is average height and thin, standing in at 5'5". She has long auburn hair which she isn't able to style too much due to the headgear she wears. Her fur is tan with hints of white and beige, and her eyes are green. Janice dresses fairly casually, typically in a plaid pink flannel with the sleeves rolled up, blue jeans, and leather boots.
Friends
- Margaret Moore
- Annie Sharpe
- Delores Dunn
- Deidra Pinckney
- Alice Scherzinger
Skills and Abilities
Janice is a talented playwright, and has a good understanding of the appeal of the western genre. She's forgiving, extroverted, and always willing to push others to do better in a patient and understanding way.
Weaknesses
Janice isn't nearly as good of an actress as she believes, though her poor reception by audiences might be because her braces make it hard to understand her, and the headgear she wears causes feedback and interference on the microphone. She is aware of this of course, but chooses to ignore it, and advises the crowd does the same.
Jobs
When not attending school and writing, Janice helps her parents around the farm.
