Description
These are a couple characters I created many months ago but never completed because I didn’t know what I wanted them to look like. When it comes to creating characters, in my creative process at least, the design usually comes last.
Greg and Curt are cops at the Povey PD, and the idea I had in mind for them was that they’d be sort of like Fred Matthews’ lackeys, shadowing him around and reinforcing his belittlement of John, though they do have their own interests. They’ve probably got a lot more in common with John than they’d realize.
________________________________________________________
Greg is charismatic, cocky, and always eager for a challenge. He carries himself with the energy of an athlete in constant search of his next big game, and he thrives on competition. If there’s a chase to be had, a fight to be won, or a criminal to take down, Greg is the first in line. Not necessarily because it’s his duty, but because he enjoys the thrill of it. He is not a cruel or heartless man, but he is impulsive and reckless, often making rash decisions that could easily backfire. He doesn’t think ahead, choosing to dive headfirst into situations with the expectation that his strength and quick thinking will carry him through. Though Greg is far more likable than Curt, he is still widely regarded as dangerous to work with. His reckless behavior, tendency to act before thinking, and willingness to bend the rules make him an unpredictable presence on the force. His morals are shaky at best, and while he won’t intentionally harm the innocent, but he isn’t particularly concerned with due process, either. If cheating, intimidation, or bending the law gets the job done, he won’t hesitate to do it. While he respects physical strength and determination, he has little patience for the weak or hesitant, preferring action over deliberation.
Biography
Greg was always an athlete, always a competitor, and always the guy who wanted to prove he was the best. As a teenager, he was a star player in every sport he touched, and he thrived on the rush of winning. But when high school ended and the structure of competitive sports faded, Greg found himself searching for the next big challenge.
Law enforcement seemed like the perfect fit. It had competition, action, and opportunities to prove himself in the field. He excelled in training, particularly in combat, pursuit tactics, and high-intensity situations. He became one of the most physically capable officers on the force, but his reckless style of policing ensured that he would never be fully trusted by his superiors.
Over time, he gravitated toward Curtis Gecht, recognizing that while Curt was insufferable, he was also one of the few officers who took policing as seriously as he did, albeit for very different reasons. The two became partners out of necessity, and while they butt heads often, their combined skill makes them an effective, if volatile, team.
Now, Greg continues his pursuit of action and adrenaline, treating police work less as a duty and more as a personal proving ground.

Friends
Curt Gecht - Greg and Curt are partners by necessity, both being skilled but deeply self-serving officers. While Curt looks down on nearly everyone, Greg doesn’t care about superiority, he just wants action. Their relationship is strained, but functional, as their combined skill makes them a dangerous duo in the field.
Harold Walton - Harold tolerates Greg’s recklessness because he gets results, but he doesn’t trust him and tries to keep him on a short leash.
Fred Matthews - Greg admires Fred, but resents the fact that Fred’s popularity eclipses his own.
Enemies
John Whisenhunt - Greg never gives John much thought. He is quick to laugh at his expense when everyone is making fun of him, and he dismisses John's overly serious attitude and strict adherence to rules.
Jill Bernadine - Jill has no tolerance for Greg’s recklessness, and their interactions are purely transactional.
Richard Dunhurst - Greg doesn’t deal with Richard directly, but he is aware of his influence and doesn’t particularly care as long as it doesn’t interfere with his need for action.
Skills and Abilities
Greg is one of the best officers when it comes to physical altercations, chases, and pursuit tactics. He doesn’t hesitate, acting with complete confidence and decisiveness in high-risk situations. While he doesn’t care for rules, he does respect strength and capability, and he remains loyal to those he deems worthy. When things get dangerous, Greg is at his best, using his agility, endurance, and instincts to pull through. Though reckless, he is far more likable than Curt, and his competitive, energetic nature can be infectious.
Weaknesses
Greg acts first and thinks later, making rash decisions that can backfire. He is in it for the thrill and recognition, not for justice, which compromises his moral integrity. While he works well with Curt, he is difficult to manage and often disregards orders. If bending the rules gives him an edge, he’ll do it, even if it means crossing ethical lines. His erratic decision-making makes him a liability, as no one ever truly knows what he’ll do next.
________________________________________________________
Curt is vain, self-absorbed, and socially unbearable. He looks down on nearly everyone, believing that his intelligence, skill, and natural superiority make him better than the rest of the department. He is not brutally aggressive, but his constant verbal jabs and condescending tone make him insufferable to be around. He openly complains about the shortcomings of others, making sure that anyone who falls short of his impossible standards knows it. He is not the type to offer help or guidance. If someone struggles, that’s their problem, not his. Unlike the lazier members of the department, Curt is not interested in simply coasting along, he wants recognition. He wants to be seen as the best, though he is infuriatingly aware that Fred Matthews outshines him in both popularity and accolades. While he does his job well, it is only ever for his own gain, and he will never put in effort unless he sees a clear reward. Despite being generally despised, Curt is not an idiot. He knows who to antagonize and who to leave alone, and while he pushes boundaries, he is careful not to jeopardize his own position. He is calculating and self-aware, recognizing that being useful enough to the sheriff keeps him protected. While his social interactions are a constant source of tension, Curt is not completely alone. He tolerates Greg, his partner, more than anyone else, and their dynamic is the closest thing he has to a real relationship on the force, even if Greg occasionally loses patience with him, too.
Biography
Curt’s life has been driven by his desire for validation and status. He has always believed himself to be smarter, sharper, and more deserving of recognition than those around him, and joining the police force was simply another way for him to prove his superiority.
He worked his way into a respected position through sheer competence, but his inability to work well with others ensured that he never truly rose to prominence. Instead, he remains stuck in the shadow of men like Fred Matthews, and that fact burns him every single day.
Over time, he learned to play the game just enough to survive. He doesn’t challenge authority outright, but he mocks and undermines those he dislikes whenever possible. He has also learned not to overextend himself. If he pushes too hard, he risks making enemies he can’t afford to have.
Now, Curt continues his work as an officer, balancing just enough effectiveness to be tolerated, but never enough to overshadow those who hold real power.
Curt drives a black and white 1950 Pontiac Silver Streak police cruiser. The words "Povey Police Dept." are painted on its sides.
Friends
Greg Poingdestre - Greg is the closest thing Curt has to a friend, though even their relationship can be strained at times.
John Whisenhunt - John and Curt do not see eye to eye, and in fact, Curt insults John pretty frequently. Due to their mutual hatred of Fred however, Curt is not above working with John to fight a common enemy.
Harold Walton - Harold doesn’t particularly like Curt, but he keeps him around because he’s effective without being ambitious.
Enemies
Fred Matthews - Curt resents Fred deeply, knowing that no matter how well he performs, he will never be as celebrated as Fred.
Skills and Abilities
Curt knows how to do his job well, and he is far more competent than most of his colleagues. While arrogant, he is smart enough to know how far he can push things without getting in trouble. He does not need approval or friendship. He is perfectly fine working alone. Unlike some of his colleagues, Curt is not naive or easily swayed, and he sees through deception quickly. He never questions himself or hesitates, making him decisive in the field.
Weaknesses
His arrogance and constant belittling of others have made him wildly unpopular. He has no real empathy, and he only values people based on their usefulness to him. No matter how good he is at his job, he will never be as well-liked or respected as Fred, and he knows it. If someone struggles, that’s their problem, not his. He is not a team player. While useful, he is not untouchable, and his ego may one day get the better of him.
Looks like an adult swim show lol
