When everything feels like the movies, you bleed just to know you're alive.
Thanks very much for the watch!
Your dedication to Americana is honestly fascinating. I get nostalgic looking at your pieces as they remind me of home. You really seem to capture that essence and it's moving me in a way I've never felt from art before.
That means a lot! I’ve spent a little too much time researching and immersing myself in mid-century life, haha.
Howdy! Your work has a "slice of life" quality I like about it, and that's not even covering your attention to detail, setting, character design---everything about it is just ripe with story. I look forward to seeing more from you. All the best, cheers.
I appreciate that very much! I try my best with making each scene as natural as possible.
And I appreciate your appreciation! (I also just wanted to ask a particular question if you don't mind: I notice many photos and advertisements in the setting have human faces on them; does that mean the anthropomorphism is a state of mind concept or is it for an other reason?)
Ah yes, that detail. I leave it up to individual interpretation. It started out as an excuse for me to not have to design an anthro equivalent for every advertisement I reference, or for every real person I choose to depict (celebrities or other public figures of the time). But I ended up liking the contrast, and how it sort of draws the viewer’s attention and has them asking questions about the way the world works. Because ultimately it’s an insignificant detail, since the characters themselves draw no attention to it, and there are no human characters either. So it can be looked at in any number of ways. I’ve seen some really fun interpretations, and if it gets people asking questions about my setting, I think it’s a good thing!
