The Lagoon Nebula M8

The Lagoon Nebula (catalogued as Messier 8 or M8, and as NGC 6523) is a giant interstellar cloud in the constellation Sagittarius.

This is the first astrophoto I have taken through my telescope with the autoguider up and running. I know I framed this wrong and I should have had the camera turned 90 degrees over. Oh well, you live and learn. I'll do better next time.

I wanted to shoot a longer sequence but the autoguider lost the guide star after dew formed on the guide scope.

you seem to know a lot about this, so can you tell me:

are the pictures of galaxy's and nebulas that you see full of color and beauty, are they real or are those images colorized/altered?
