Two comets, Comet Panstarrs (C/2011 L4) and Comet Lemmon (C/2012 F6), are currently gracing the early evening sky. Panstarrs to the right of the tree was just visible to the unaided eye but sets below the horizon not long after emerging from the twilight. Comet Lemmon (upper left of frame with a slightly green nucleus) is not as bright but can be easily seen with binoculars or small telescopes.

1st of March, 2013
The clouds and moon finally cooperated to allow me to get my first images of Comet Panstarrs this evening. Going to have some fun with this comet over the coming weeks. It probably will not brighten as much as earlier predictions but it is still a nice sight.

Thank you very much :D Unfortunately for you Comet Lemmon is very much just a southern hemisphere object. I hope you have been able to capture Panstarrs. Been seeing some great shots from the northern hemisphere.

Absolutely lovely. It's unfortunately not visible for very long here and getting a good shot of it has been hard.

Oh thank you for this shot :) I have thought that you make a picture like this. Two beautiful dames on the sky together :) We just hopefully wait for panstarrs on the northern hemisphere. However the weather seems to be cloudy :(
