Description

Two comets, Comet Panstarrs (C/2011 L4) and Comet Lemmon (C/2012 F6), are currently gracing the early evening sky. Panstarrs to the right of the tree was just visible to the unaided eye but sets below the horizon not long after emerging from the twilight. Comet Lemmon (upper left of frame with a slightly green nucleus) is not as bright but can be easily seen with binoculars or small telescopes.

The clouds and moon finally cooperated to allow me to get my first images of Comet Panstarrs this evening. Going to have some fun with this comet over the coming weeks. It probably will not brighten as much as earlier predictions but it is still a nice sight.
