Firelighter is the titanic clash of Apollo and Dionysus. It is the collision of humanity and the wild; of land and of water; of the flux of time and the shutter which steals it. Two images - one, an exposure of over ten minutes, another a single thousandth of a second - are infused digitally into an amalgamation of time and colour. The work makes me reflect on our world and how we attempt to explain it to ourselves though art. It is absolutely indulgent to primitive image aesthetics, however the digital workspace respectfully allows for, and I think embraces this type of fantastical, almost surreal imagery. Ignoring these boons of digital imagery is merely a denial. So, what lights your fire?
