Olde Cherry Hill MS PAINT

This is Cherry Hill, a tiny island of green in my part of Boston that was recently developed. It wasn't big, it wasn't pristine, it wasn't maintained all the time. It was however a minor sanctuary, a place where I went sledding as a kid, and a drinking spot in high school (from which I escaped with a Boston Police cruiser at my heels more than once). I miss it dearly, but now it lives on in MS Paint form!

Thanks to everyone who's faved this and all the great comments! I'm honored by the Daily Deviation!

Oh my word! Let me start off by saying that this is a most beautiful piece - one that I love to just look at.
The vision is wonderful! Taking a place that you enjoyed as a child and placing it into a piece ( MS Paint nonetheless, that's amazing! ) just takes the cake for me; I love MS Paint works, and yours has to be the most in-depth and complicated piece done in Paint that I've ever seen, and ever expect to see!
It's a very original piece; most think "original" means that it has to be straight from your mind, but you disprove that with this picture! You've created something from your memories, not imagination ( though, it still is imaginative, if that makes any sense at all! ), and it strikes the viewer. I know it hit me!
Your technique, for lack of a better term, is simply amazing. It's in-depth appearance was well-captured, and it looks fantastic! I know no one would ever be able to do this as well as you did. The grass looks like grass, and that's difficult to do in Paint! Also, the cherry tree's blossoms are beautiful, as well as the clouds, and everything else contained within the image! The way that you framed it just adds a feeling of completion. I applaud you for being able to do something as magnificent as this. The only thing I can say to work on is the tree at the base of the hill - the leaves look a tad flat, but the work is still awesome.
This piece really hit me hard - so complicated, and made with a very simple program. In other words, I love this; keep up the good work!

I know this is late in coming, but thanks a lot for the critique!

You are very welcome. :) I also apologize for the late response, as I moved accounts two years ago and just happened to pop in to check on some things.

You did this in MS Paint? Wow, and I mean WOW. This just proves that MS Paint can be just as good as any other digital art program, as long as you put in the time and effort to make a good pic.

My thoughts exactly!

What's your opinion on Photoshop?

CaptainRedblood's avatar
It’s an amazing program that I’ll probably never enjoy using.
28118's avatar

Because it's just editing photos, right?

CaptainRedblood's avatar
It's just too complicated for me. Plus, the way I draw with a mouse is so completely different from drawing with a stylus that my stuff would look totally different. I just like using Paint and how my stuff looks with it if that makes sense.

Fair enough. Do you use a stylus for Paint?

CaptainRedblood's avatar
No, never. When I make line art, I try to keep the lines as clean and thin as I can. Not possible if you use a stylus with the program.

It's HARD to believe it was made in MS paint.

How long did it take you to do this?? I have so much trouble with grass and other small details...
CaptainRedblood's avatar
This one took a long time, maybe a couple of months, but this was back before I had a solid process. Now this would take me a week or so.
