Greetings from the Captain, Hope everyone is okay and doing well. I have been watching and keeping tabs on everyone. I have not done a lot of KP stuff in awhile and because of the recent events it may be awhile before I do again. Many of you remember when I had heart surgery back in 2006. I have been doing very well since then but an unplanned and unwanted hospital stay while on vacation said that things might not be so well. While on vacation I went into "A-Fib". Not fun and very uncomfortable. While they were doing tests for the A-Fib, they found out that my hemoglobin in my blood was half of what it should be. It was serious enough they gave me a transfusion. After an overnight stay in the hospital, I was sent home. Several doctor's appointments later we learned that my body is not making red blood cells like it should. This leaves me short of breath and easily tired. Some days are great others are not so great. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. In
Hi everyone,
I have not been doing a lot of writing. I have been doing a lot of working. I have also been facing some health issues. I have been undergoing some tests in the past few weeks. Some were not so comfortable if not downright painful. There will be several more tests over the coming weeks. It all comes down to one thing.
I have a condition known as a paraesophageal hernia. Basically, a significant portion of the upper part of the stomach has passed through a hole in my diaphragm and lodged in my chest. It is starting to crowd out my lungs and my heart. It is not a real big problem now, but it could be in the future. The
Here we go again. Another hurricane. This is getting to be too common a thing here is eastern NC. Everyone knows what this one did to the Bahamas and it is heading my way. Luckily it is only supposed to brush the coast just south of me but we are still going to get hit pretty hard here. They are forecasting 20-40 mph sustained winds with gusts to 65 mph. Add 6-10 inches of rain over about a 24 hour period and you get a mess.
We are ready as we can be. Got all the extra stuff we might need. Everything loose outside it put up or tied down. Now we wait. Got some good books ready and a couple of board game. Will update after the storm
