Design and Headcanon's belong to me (no need to tell me "X is not mate with X, X is not the son of X", those are headcanons, it's normal I don't respect the canon genealogy).

About Applefrost : I like to imagine that he is one of the victims of Mapleshade, who tried to do the same thing to him as to Crookedstar. In my headcanon, he was the runt of the litter and felt like a good-for-nothing. Maple used him insecurity to lure him into the Dark Forest where, like Crookedstar, she promised him heaven and wonders. Thus, he saw Reedshine being killed by a Windclan patrol and his sister Willownose dying giving birth to Shellheart. Realizing that all his problems stemmed from his promise to Mapleshade, he cut off all contact with her. Mad with rage, she attacked him in him dream and blinded him, telling him that in this way he would be deprived of all dignity and spend his life being as useless as he feared (if Antpelt could have been killed in the Dark Forest, I guess Maple can gouge out his eyes). He was therefore sent to the Elder's den and gradually sank into depression, his insecurities being accentuated by the fault of Mapleshade. He ends up letting himself be carried away by the river to end his life, still young and in the prime of life, but no longer able to bear to feel useless.
