Waylon and Colton had arrived in time for Nichi to come out of quarantine and begin training. They'd decided to ship directly after the Arlington and just do all their training in France. Something that seemed to be a bit different than their competitors. But it made the most sense to Waylon and the team. For this race they decided they would train with bandages on all four legs, and they picked a place far enough out that most people wouldn't see them train. A large horse farm that had it's own rolling track along a small river, it was perfect to get Nichi's focus on racing and at the same time ease him back into this different style of running.
In Japan he'd been running clockwise so it was more about reminding him that he could than retraining him to run that way. Once Nichi understood what was asked he seemed to take it in stride. But Waylon was having Colton work him hard today and he had the determination in his eyes as he threw a bullet work. The grass, the country, everything just made Nichi come back alive again. And that made Colton smile, this race was going to be important and he just wanted Nichi to do his best. Which it seemed the stallion was up to doing!
