Training Thunder and Lightning

The pair of racing prospects that Waylon had picked up from a White Blood Stables auction were finally hitting the training track today in earnest, the colt Striker had shown more interest in running than the filly Roller had. But today Waylon told Colton to do something different, the two hated to be separated from each other, so he had them put on blinkers and told Colton to take the colt out at a gallop by himself. Then had Cecily take the filly straight onto the track into a gallop as well, the timing had to be perfect where neither horse saw each other until the stretch.

Roller was lazily running when Cecily heard the heavy footfalls of Striker behind her, she looked over her shoulder and leaned forward heavily urging the filly on. Roller couldn't see who was beside her but she kicked it up a knotch, keeping herself moving faster than whatever was coming up along her. Waylon had told Colton to at no point let Striker pull ahead of the filly, but instead to keep them close, to keep them challenging each other. The pace got to be brutal as they crossed the finish line, Striker a few strides behind Roller.

Once they were slowed down, cooling down Waylon had them take the hoods off and both horses went alongside each other like they had never been apart. Striker nibbled at Roller's neck and while they were being walked out and washed off they stayed next to one another.

Things seemed to be working themselves out with Roller and Striker, and Waylon hoped the two young prospects could hit the races before the end of the year.
