The Mix of Iron and Blood: Chapter Thirteen

Unseen Previous Chapter The rain had stopped sometime before dawn, but it seemed like no one had let the jungle know. Water still came down through the canopy in its own time, in fat irregular drops that struck the broad leaves below like knuckles on a door. Everything dripped. Everything steamed as the heat came up. Elkog had given up on the idea of being dry two days ago, somewhere between the river and that abandoned village, and now simply walked wet, his trousers stuck to his skin and his boots making a squelching sound at every step that he had started to hate. Michelle set the pace, because she was still regaining her strength after being healed. She did not complain about it, she simply walked with her head down and her hand out for branches, and every so often she stopped without warning and stood with her eyes closed, breathing, while the rest of them waited and gave her the time she needed. Then she would say "right" and start again. They had been doing that since first

I saw her across the room; She smiled and waved me over. I asked for a spare pen; She gave me the one in her hand. I said I needed a drink; She gave me hers. I asked for a dance; She almost made me look pretty. I asked her to race me; She kept up with ease. I said I was hungry; She cooked a giant feast And asked which dish I wanted. I asked about her scars; She smiled and said they were maps Of all the roads she's been on. I asked for her heart; She handed it right over, No questions asked. I asked her what she thought about; She told stories for hours on end. I asked how old she was; She said, "I don't count with numbers." I asked if she felt safe; She shrugged and said, "I don't really need it." I asked about her family; She spread out her arms As if to hug the sky. I asked her what she wanted; She said, "Love." I asked her to choose a side; She lay down on the ground And screamed and screamed. I sang her a song I knew; She encored me, Then tried to bring her friends

The Inner Child Runs Free

Focus bounces from place to place a tune playing in my head no headphones in just my mind replaying something on loop or playing it's own playlist of songs it's decided to roll through my head. A job list flickering between the focuses I'm suppose to be doing, ideas occasionally pinging across my mind like pop ups. Feelings, talking, external influence can really add extra load to this bubble I build yet I haven't noticed this bad since back when I was a kid. My focus whilst straining on myself is normally something that I can direct and control fairly accurately so what has fallen loose? Has the inner child broken free? I was thinking we were the same thing yet... An influence that feels more childish and impulsive from back then has resurged itself back to the surface. Thank god I'm done with school as I remember vividly telling my annoyed mother who'd asked why I'm only good at school that it was too hard to be good at home and at school. I can't imagine what I'd be like

A Hearth's Warming to Remember (Epilogue)

The next day, a light engine collected “Element of Loyalty” from Horse Junction, and brought her back to Ponyville where she was thoroughly inspected. She was none the worse for her adventure, but just to be on the safe side, Max ordered that she left to thaw out at the back of the shed. It took a while for Locomotion to recover from his snowy ordeal, and he was thankful he had so little shopping left to do. Steamer gladly took care of it on his behalf, while Hornette stayed at home to help him wrap presents and generally make sure he was alright, offering him a blanket or a warm drink at the slightest shiver. Locomotion did feel a little henpecked, but ultimately he couldn't complain – at least it gave him a good excuse to snuggle on the sofa with his changeling. By the time Hearth's Warming Eve rolled by, all their cards had been posted, all their presents wrapped and delivered, and the final batches of cookies and pies baked and ready for the big day. Steamer even took the liberty

From Rumble With Love (Part 7)

Chapter 7: These Feelings Within Over in another part of Sweet Apple Acres, Scootaloo was anxiously pacing back and forth under the shade of one of the apple trees, muttering indistinctly to herself. She should have met up with Rainbow Dash here that morning, but after a whole hour of waiting, the rainbow-maned Pegasus mare still hadn't turned up. As time went by, the orange filly became increasingly restless.“What's keeping her so long?” she wondered out loud. “Not like Rainbow Dash to be this late.”She directed a hesitant glance at her scooter for the umpteenth time, wondering if she should go and perform a few stunts to pass the time. From Rumble With Love (Part 4)

Chapter 4: Sister Talk Another calm, quiet night came and went, and Scootaloo was now waiting patiently on a rock near where Rainbow Dash had said they were going to meet, with her scooter resting against it. She had had a good sleep that night, but somehow she didn't feel as enthusiastic as she normally did when meeting up with her idol; in fact, her mind was barely on the cyan-coated, rainbow-maned Pegasus at all. Ever since she had met Rumble the previous day, she couldn't seem to get him out of her head – even while she had been asleep she kept dreaming about him, and what really unnerved her was that she hadn't for one moment acted or...

Overall, life was good: the people were slowly and steadily earning your trust, although the silver stallion remained at the top of that list, and he gave you subtle hints that he was pleased by your progress. In the last two weeks, you’d allowed a full wash down, cleaned hooves and the simplest of shoes, a well-brushed mane and tail, a woolen stable blanket and, most impressive of all, an embroidered leather (f/c) halter with your personal lead rope.
