Description
It was an early September morning when Waylon had Colton take Jagger out on the dirt path in the woods. Jagger was a leased horse from White Blood Stables and he was becoming a bit antsy since he hadn't had a full workout, but Waylon had wanted to ease his transition into Fox Harbor Farms as much as he could. It seemed though that the colt had other plans, and so off it was to run through the trails and alongside the creeks and lakes that filled the woods. Waylon told Colton to just let him be a horse and enjoy his surroundings for a bit and then let him open up.
So that's what he did, they walked for a while before Colton leaned down against the colt's neck and flicked the lead, and then they were off. The morning was a cool 52 degrees, steam was coming off the lake and with each breath horse and rider took they added to it. Leaves were falling but Waylon made sure the trails stayed fairly clean, and there was still just a bit of grass growing on the banks of the lakes.
This was always Colton's favorite kind of workout, the kind where it was just him and the horse doing exactly what it was bred to do. Jagger moved fluidly under him, and for a moment he closed his eyes and just let the colt take him down the path. Then he leaned further against his neck and urged him on around a turn, switching leads in the process and asking for Jagger to show him exactly what he was made of. And Colton was far from disappointed.
