Description
Sit back, relax, begin;
It's too early for surrender;
Too late for a prayer;
We can't go to hell if we're already there;
They say the end is coming;
And I need to prepare;
We can't go to hell if we're already there.

Fox Harbor Farms
Trainer: Waylon Givens
Jockey: Barnabas Skellar
Juvenile Turf
Thunder rolled in the distance in Del Mar, an undseasonable thunderstorm over the ocean was coming in and Waylone was concerned. Should he have Barnabas take their unruly juvenile out on the beach with the chance that a storm was coming? Demon answered for him though as he pulled loose of the grooms holding him, it took four people now to even attempt to hold the colt standing still as his jockey climbed into his saddle, but once Barnabas was in he wrangled the beast under control.
"Cut that out boorie, you got to work this morning." The colt snorted and flehmaned at the men around him, daring them to try and touch him again. Blinders or not, he could take them all on, and no one doubted that for a second. Taking the reins in hand he urged the colt into a walk until they got on the sand, and then he let him stand and take in the salt air. The thunder rolled and his ears pricked forward. It wasa loud for being so quiet out, at least to the colt. Waves crashing into the beach, the spray stinging on his skin in cold little salt spots as things changed around him. And then Barnabas gave him a kick and he was urged to move. Fast, faster still.
Sand had become the preferred way of training the colt since Australia, and he took to it quickly, dropping his head as low as the draw reins would let him and working with these tools that the team had forced upon the colt. Still he was building up to be quite the strong beast, and he while he fought Barnabas every step of the way he fought him to give him more. More than he was asking, more than he was supposed to. To run was to fight, and Demon wanted to always leave the best he had on the table. Because next time he'd have more.
But Barnabas didn't want more this morning as lightning started to crack, this morning the jockey wanted just enough, enough to make the colt crazy with energy. Because when he loaded up in the Juvenile Turf...he wanted Demon to snap and take on the field with everything he had. And Barnabas knew, that the full force of Demon had yet to be unleashed. But what better place to leave the best behind than the Breeders' Cup Championships where the other breeders could see just what sort of creatures that Fox Harbor had up their sleeves...and this one was a true hellion.
