Calm Down

Kit Kat the Shetland Pony was the second to be unloaded when Sunday Memories arrived, and though she earned a few giggles it became obviously quickly why they were a "set" and inseparable. When Colton went to put a lead line on Sunday the big stallion started to act up and bite at the young jockey, in came Kit Kat with a snort and a shake of her wooly mane and the stallion immediately settled. Sure she barely came up to the tip of his tail but the older mare treated him like an unruly foal in her broodmare band.

They always had to be turned out together, and had to be stabled next to each other. It took a bit for the group at Fox Harbor to get used to this new pony but she quickly became beloved and made sure to assert herself even among the younger race horses. Waylon let her out with Sunday and when the big stallion spotted young Triton in the field adjacent to him he started to rear, all Kit Kat did was lift a leg and snort at the stallion to settle him. It really was remarkable to watch her boss around the big boy and always made him chuckle.

History - Kit Kat is originally from the UK, bred on a farm in the rolling countryside she was first a companion for a young boy. He enjoyed riding her so much that he started to compete in pony races, and eventually in the Grand National. After she took a nasty tumble one race she never quite got back up to speed, so she was sold at auction. Picked up by a kind Thoroughbred breeder who was taken by her bullish attitude, she was put out with the yearlings and quickly became the constant companion to a beautiful black colt he had high hopes for. Sunday Memories would grow up to be mean and ornery, only calm when he was with Kit Kat and so they became a matched set. Even when Sunday was eventually sold to Fox Harbor, taking the little Shetland mare with him.

General Personality - On her own Kit Kat is a kind and gentle soul, but she does have a strong willed side. And she is sure to never take anyone's proverbial "crap". If she sees someone acting up Kit Kat is the first to police it no matter if they are horse or man.

Fears - Kit Kat is afraid of thunderstorms and often will crawl into Sunday's stall when one rolls overhead, she'll cuddle with him until it breaks and then return to her own stall.
