After the Melbourne Cup Waylon had sent Jagger, Triton, and new prospect Shorty onto the plane to direct to the Devil's Night Downs to race in the Devil's Cup races. They needed to get in one more prep before the Breeders Cup at the Jockey Club. It was a big race, but he knew that his string of horses could handle it. And with enough prep for the entire team he figured that they'd at least have a shot at doing something special.

Jagger had come out of the Cup in fantastic order, with enough extra gas in the tank that there were absolutely no concerns about sending him out again. In fact when he arrived at Devil's Night Downs he was feisty and active wanting to jog immediately. Colton didn't let him do that but they had walked that first night and relaxed together in the stall. He'd even fallen asleep with the stallion, being found the next morning by his sister Cecily. She laughed at him and helped him out of the straw, which only served to make Jagger huff at both of them before stretching and proceeding to roll in the straw of his stall.

That morning was the Budweiser Classic Handicap and as they got to the final preparations for Jagger everything was going calmly, he even had the silly stallion out early to school in the paddock before the race. It was a good crowd and that seemed to make Jagger perk up more, he wanted to run and show off! When it was time to saddle up and get ready for the race Jagger was still pretty excitable and couldn't help but whinny his excitement to the crowd around the paddock. He was nothing short of a clown today, and Colt just hoped he got serious enough to do well in the race!
