To however featured me on Sheikah Things
on Tumblr, thank you so much!
I know nothing about Tumblr and I had no idea that one existed, but I'm so happy to see people enjoying this!
Don't be shy! Comments are always appreciated No Sheik gender debates, please! This is a piece about how awesome the Sheikah are, not an essay of what I think Sheik is. Thank you I'm going to try and start selling prints of these! Will be sold on 11x17" paper only; please note if interested
IT'S FINALLY DONE
AFTER NOT DRAWING FOR A GOOD EIGHT MONTHS, THIS PIECE IS FINALLY DONE AFTER A NEAR THREE MONTHS OF WORK!
Oh man, guys, it's been so long since I've last submitted something! I have to be honest, since AP Art ended last year in May I haven't really felt like drawing anything at all. I can't even tell you why, I just...didn't. Since I've been in college though, I've met a LOT of brilliant artists and great people, and they just got my inspired to draw again. And what better way to come back into a submitting groove than to spend pretty much all my time on a big poster like this!
It's no secret that I love Sheik, or Zelda in general for that matter--just looking through my faves can tell you that. I always loved the Sheikah and their mysterious nature though, and after Skyward Sword came out and new Sheikah were introduced, I just had to draw them! I found it a bit interesting that (as far as I have seen) no one has really drawn all of the Sheikah together in one piece like this...so, I decided to go ahead and do it!
Because there were quite a few characters in this, there was so much work to do. I've sadly never really drawn a big poster like this so doing so was certainly an interesting challenge. This piece is actual poster sized (11x17", hoping to get it printed for myself this weekend), so therefor I had to draw all of the Sheikah digitally and they were all painted after that. I haven't painted in a while, and this was the first piece I've done entirely on my laptop, so I'm not certain how the values look, but I'm pretty proud of it! I've never really drawn old people before, so Old Impa is a bit on the so/so side, nor have I really drawn metal before so OoT Impa's chest plate is a bit confused, but I'm rather happy with how the coloring came out. I still need practice with lighting, but oh well. There's about a million mistakes in here anyway, but I still think it came out pretty well!
SS Impa and Sheik were supposed to have something like a battle ready expression/pose, while OoT Impa was supposed to look more wise. I really wanted to capture the emotion that the three Sheikah show, and I just kinda threw Old Impa in there since she technically is a Sheikah XD They were supposed to be composed to form the Sheikah symbol, essentially, although I might need to work on my balance a bit more (that's why Sheik is a bit off center--to avoid clashing with Impa's feather and bringing too much attention to the left side.)
But yeah, hope you guys like this
My friend and I are hoping to grab our first artist alley table at Bakuretsu Con this November so I've been thinking up a lot of poster ideas, and I might possibly
sell this one, still not sure if there really is an audience (I feel like there's a reason why I haven't seen a Sheikah poster like this). So if you're in the vast empty mountain range known as Vermont this fall, be sure to give us a visit! Until then, hope you guys like this
This had a total of 450+ layers, and it would be more around 560+ but unfortunately SS Impa was entirely flattened so I can't work with her layers anymore. Oh wellNow with an official name signature and fun watermarks since I need to make a portfolio soon and I need better stuff
It's good to be back, guys!
